USCe thinks Muschamp can succeed there when he couldn't get it done at a vastly better program in Florida?

Spurrier at UF: 122-27-1 .819 overall, 87-12 .879 in the SEC

Spurrier at USCe: 86-49 .637 overall, 44-40 .523 in the SEC

Muschamp at UF: 28-21 .571 overall, 17-15 .531 in the SEC

Conclusion: I don't see it going well for Muschamp at South Carolina

I agree with you. This isn't quite like a Charlie Weis hire, but with all the coaching hires this year Muschamp to South Carolina on paper looks like the worst. I think it's at the point where the SEC is so full of itself it will not look outside of its own conference for a coaching hire.

 
Steve Spurrier's midseason resignation from the South Carolina Gamecocks came as a shock to football fans around the nation, but his love for the program should not. Spurrier, who was paid an annual salary of $1 million, deferred his final paycheck from the athletic program. Instead, Spurrier has donated the $70,000 check back to the football program's booster club, the Gamecock Club.


If you think that was impressive, well, according to The State, Spurrier wrote that “by resigning, I forfeited the buyout clause in my contract that saved our university three million dollars.” Even though Spurrier is no longer with his Gamecocks, it's clear that he wishes them nothing but future success.
