And if by "finesse" the poster means a high level of refinement and execution - like the dictionary does - Tom Osborne's triple option running attack was very big on finesse.

Fact: 09 we were 2 pts away from winning the conference and a bcs bowl game.

those two years we didn't suffer any 30+ pt blowouts.

sorry chief any fan would take the 09-10 years than the 11-12 years. We don't give our defense enough rest because of too many 3 and outs in like 5 mins. We are passing too much. we give up on the run too easily.

No matter how much we run the ball, some people will always criticize the offense as too finessy. I don't get this.
Our offense is exciting and has potential. It is a lot better, hands down than the 2009 and 2010 and 2011 offenses. Granted, we made the best out of a pretty epicly bad situation in 2009 with injuries and whatnot, and put a display on in the bowl for what could've been if we had dusted off the Rexcat sooner.
Zoogies just because this year's offense has potential doesn't make it better. They have made T-mart into a passer. He can pass but he will never be the passer that we need that can complete 85-95% of his passes every game. He is a runner and each year we have utilized that less and less because Bo is too scared to really see what we have behind Martinez.

I agree that Taylor's potential as a runner needs to be used, but we have a pretty multi-faceted offense that masks serious deficiencies in its OL play and a non-proto passer prone to bad decisions and throws, to still get pretty solid production in both phases of the game. There's always room for improvement but Beck has done a lot with what he's got and it's shown in actual games this year.

teams that rely on the pass. Seems we have been more than usual. Spread offenses are more passing based than run based. hence why when the qb has a bad day passing the whole offense comes to a stand still. Spread offenses needs a qb who can be an accurate passer and needs to have high completion rate. I agree that wide receivers have also dropped catches and that's also why we need wide receivers who act like they have glue on their hands to catch the ball instead of dropping them.

I think you're getting caught up in the terminology of 'spread' when we aren't a spread team, we run and run and ask our receivers to run block so we can run some more. I think if you look at our stats you'll see just how committed to the run we are, because more pass based offenses do not run like we do. And there isn't a QB in the country who completes passes at that clip!

lmao. The best completion percentage in the league belongs to David Fales of SJSU at 72.1%. Practically nobody completes more than 70% of their passes, and TMart is at 62.2% on the season.
Taylor has issues with happy feet, bad decision making, and dropping the ball. He kills us when he goes into freshman mode and spots the other team 2-3 touchdowns.
