Chinander's Role

Be intersting to see moving forward. Trying to be optimistic, but maybe Chin "wanted" a more aggressive D, but Frost liked the UCF model where they score 60, we can score 61.......I liked MJ specifically mentioning the gap integrity. Hoping to play more press and get after the QB every down.  Make the O "earn the right" to be in 3rd and short.  Force them off schedule.....

 
What was lacking in the Georgia Southern game was moving to a tighter, man coverage once it was clear that they'd score points on pretty much every single drive if we didn't.

If Chinander is still in charge of making those types of decisions in-game or even as we prepare for what scheme we're rolling with for the week against any given opponent, the rest of the season is just as f***ed as the first quarter of the year.

Look at our DLine push throughout the game.  They were getting blown off the ball.  Couple that with some terrible backend zone play, and we couldn't stop the run or threaten their passing.  Our D is terrible right now, and Chin is a bad bad coach at this level.  

 
What would be the chances of frost handicapping chin on what he could do with the D? Like did frost tell chin that he had to run this version of D and nothing else? What if chin has more free reign now that frost is gone and he can run the D how he wants it? 

 
Don't get me wrong. Chins is definitely outta here.

But if his defense was playing like they were most of last year, this team would be 3-0.

That would seem to speak to a big talent drain on defense, but it honestly looks like something else: flawed schemes, timid play-calling, and sloppiness by players who should know better.

Wasn't the line that Chinander had turned the corner last season? 

 
I wish Mickey would've bought him a bus or plane ticket to the destination of his choice.

Doubtful, but that's what I'm hoping for. He also likely knows some other top coordinators from past gigs. Personally I hope he'll bring in Orgeron, simply for his recruiting ability.

Shoot, last year, many fans were saying "If Frost gets fired, I hope the new coach finds a way to keep Chinander?  The way he's turned around the defense this year, it may be good to keep him around and limit the transition.  Those people were wearing their Bad Idea Jeans.

Now, I fully suspect that he will be gone at the end of the year unless he somehow does a miraculous turnaround in the defense and changes how they play.  That's almost impossible to do mid season.  

But, anyone who thinks he's not still the DC isn't understanding what I heard Joseph say.  If Chinander isn't the DC anymore, then who is?

That’s what I got out of Mickey’s comments. Chins is adding safety position responsibilities and is still the DC. And it makes a lot of sense since our safety play has been one of the more glaring issues. If the D continues to be a liability I would expect Chins will be gone long before the end of the season.

No way. You could tell by things that Frost overtly said in combination with what he didn't say that he's been almost singularly focused on the offense his entire time here.

If you go back to the 2017 season, there were some games they only won because their offense was able to boat race the other team.

Okay… it was just a thought with all the rumors flying around about how frost ran things and such

I'm probably wrong about half the s*** I say on this board but I do think there are lots of indications that Chinander had pretty much full reign to do what he wanted to. 

If anything, during the Georgia Southern game for example I'm going to bet that Frost just kept thinking about how we'd boat race them on offense and be fine. I think his problem was generally not focusing enough on the defense, personally.

No, No, No... it is interesting, but I think we all got it wrong.

I believe EC is a good coach, smart, and with different schemes in the playbook, but he hasn't had the flames rising up into his a$$ with XHCSF.  I mean, the former head coach wasn't concerned about the Special Teams thru 4 years, and he pretty much wasn't too deeply invested in the Defense as well.

Here's the point.  Let's see what he do.  The challenge and expectation for EC to pull it together for the Blackshirts is on the table.  If he is good at what he do, with pressure on him to do get it together, than he is a good coach.  If he isn't, then we will see something very similar to what we have seen.

I think the challenge is there.  I am not expecting overnight miracles against OU, but after the bye week, it better be put together by the time we hit the Big Ten games.  Otherwise, buh-bye - and he know it.
