Cincinnati Week Pressers

I'm sure it varies by coordinator and position but I've gotten the impression over the years that the position coaches handle much of the rotation decisions.

As they should imo. They work with the guys every single minute of practice and film, and the coordinator and HC might not see them everyday. But it's extremely frustrating when things as obvious as last years poor RB rotation happen, so the latter two should get the final-final when there are obvious concerns. It was refreshing when Dana came in and finally made the right call.

Yes. As a general practice, the position coaches manage the group and rotations. But, the OC and DC should always be looking, when a group isn't performing up to expectations, and have the power to override the C's decisions.

Agree, disappointing that didn't happen last year but it did partly contribute to a demotion and Dana taking over. However, I wish Rhule would have had had a finger on the situation sooner.

Pretty good one-on-one interview with Holgorsen. He was asked the "run the damn ball" question. He said he structures game plans 50/50 run/pass, but can change in-game depending on what's working. He said he was kicked out of the air raid club 10 or 12 years ago and mentioned leading the Big XII in rushing.

I would get this at times...it always kind of sucks but it happens.

I hate that the more I think about this game the more I see NU sort of laying an egg after the first drive. I don't know what it is, maybe it is that their QB can run, maybe it is that NU seems to suck in openers. I don't know.

Run the damn ball guy approves of this message!

Same. I blame it on so many seasons of scripted series followed by an inability to adjust. Cincy will be a great first test. Solid DT, mobile QB, picked up a RB from Wisky and Ohio State, Q can also throw well....Our run D last year was solid. Starters who didn't graduate went to FSU. New guys. Read Rhule wants to keep the base 3-3-5. If we can stop the run up front, that'll be great. If not, could be a close game.

I really think it’s a soul blister of ten years past.

It’s hard to get optimistic. I feel like I’m pretending to be excited for the first game and it’s really masking dread. Hopefully Holgo makes a difference here. But the big step forward I think the offense might make, I fear the defense will take a bigger one back.
