Cincinnati: What Did We Learn?

The only visible improvement is our special teams which was expected given we had no special teams coach last two years. Our offense is no different than last year. Our defense is visibly worst than last two years. If we end the season 8-5, I call that major progress. I bet cincy doesn’t make a bowl this year. Matt has no more excuses.

Questionable play calling at times (didn’t like the number of outside runs to short side, nor the final set of downs), but enough well called well executed plays to win - the two touchdown passes especially.

We saw one do it, but I believe we have two WRs who can execute a jump ball in the end zone.

Lindenmeyer is a stud.

EJ is a dog.

Defense did a good enough job, but not great. Glad to see Hartzog keep his poise and close the game out on defense after some rough plays. Gain some confidence and continue to bow up.

Won’t take any win for granted. Shoulda lost woulda lost coulda lost don’t mean crap, I’m happy we got the dub, GBR!

The biggest jump is from game 1 to game 2.... We didn't look perfect but we got the win against the toughest competition amy B1G team played today. Against a coach on the hot seat who was coaching for his job. Honestly think he cost them the game if he was the OC but that's besides the point.

We need to remember, we were projected to win 10 games by some because we have an easy schedule. We aren't there yet but there was major improvements if people are willing to look objectively.

I think we can win 8-10 games this year.

Could have been worse, obviously.

Offense should have put up more points and closed out the game. Defense should have stopped the run 2nd half.

I can't tell how good any team is anymore with the transfers and money tossed around. It was bad enough with roster cuts that stopped lower level player development. Now it's hard to tell who is playing on a team year to year.

What does a coach do now, be honest with their peeformance and risk they hit the portal before I even know their names.

:ROFLMAO:

I'll take the a scab win over a heartbreaker but if Cinci doesn't stupidly decide to throw it up for grabs there they probably win that game. This didn't look like a team making the "Rhule Year Three" jump that has been expected.

Wright was beat and Hartzog was getting roasted by the fan base, airing it out for their WR to make a play on a ball wasn’t the worst decision. I do agree with the overall sentiment, much more to be desired on both sides of the ball.

The pick-six that didn't happen may have shifted our historical ill-luck into a close win for once.

Being in FG range and going YOLO Tommy Armstrong when you don't need to - definitely changed our luck. Great INT, thankfully.

Overall, I am pleased to see a win. :giggle:
