Cincinnati: What Did We Learn?

Michigan ain't beating Ohio State. Come on now

Michigan is gonna get curb stomped. OSU will beat them up front and then Michigan doesn't have enough dynamic TEs/WRs to stop OSU from stacking the box.

Michigan certainly isn't better than OSU, but they weren't last year either. It's quite possible OSU is able to channel their frustration at losing 4 straight into a monumental beat down, but I think the quality of each team is comparable to last year and Michigan went into the horseshoe and won. They get this one at home, with a better offense but worse defense.

Not trying to cope and claim our loss to Michigan might have been to one of the very best teams in the country, Michigan isn't. But they are a better overall team than they were last year, and they managed to beat OSU last year. I would not bet any money on that game in either direction.

Thats possible, however, watching the Michigan/OSU rivalry for years (wife’s family are all Buckeyes) these are the years Michigan ends up inexplicably winning that game they have no business winning.

Thus is the nature of rivalry games. Think about all the years that mizzouri or CU played us tight (or won) with a fraction of the talent or accolades we had in the glory days.

You just described most rivalries. From the eyeball test, Michigan have no business winning that game.

We were playing a team that is likely not bowl-bound who plays in a decidedly weak Big XII and will be sacking their coach at the end of the season.

We should be much better than we are at this point.

Our defense got zero pressure, the defensive play calling was very suspect, in hurry up situations the defense looked lost, and really our secondary was getting away with stuff all night until Herzog got called for the (deserved) defensive holding right before the end of the game.

Yes we won with a defensive stop, but that was more a product of the other coach being inept and not sticking with what worked (running the ball) than going with something that had been poor all night (long pass attempts).

Offensively, we have great starters and little depth it seems. Playcalling was mostly pedestrian compared to last year but this was probably by design.

It’s year 3 and with NIL…we should be better than this.
Where you at?
