ESPN's Midwest Recruiting blog (first I've heard of it too) is reporting:

Junior quarterback Devin Gardner (Inkster, Mich.) has verbal scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Bowling Green and Toledo. He received his first written offer Tuesday from Nebraska and said he's been promised the others shortly.

Aurora star Rodriguez gets NU offer

Randy Huebert calls Andrew Rodriguez "something special."
On Tuesday, the Aurora junior became something even more.

Rodriguez received the first in-state offer to a 2010 prospect from Nebraska, putting the 6-foot-6, 305-pound offensive lineman in exclusive company on the first day scholarship offers could go out to high school juniors.

Huebert, Aurora's coach, accompanied Rodriguez on an unofficial visit to Lincoln for Saturday's game.

"When we got down there on Saturday, I just think there was a feeling that they were going to offer Andrew," Huebert said.

It came Tuesday, although Huebert said Rodriguez will call the staff today to discuss it. He called the possibility that a commitment could come today "premature."

"He's just a junior," Huebert said. "Andrew was really impressed with the staff and everything they had to offer. I know he's been very impressed with Nebraska football as a whole. But he's still just a junior. He doesn't want to rush into things."

Nebraska's is the only offer Rodriguez holds to this point, although he has gotten interest from several other schools.

"His physique is impressive, and he's got tremendous feet and strength," Huebert said. "He loves the game, and when you put that together with his work ethic and humble attitude . . . you have something special."

Tigers offer young OL

Clemson was the first BCS Conference program to extend a scholarship offer to Class of 2010 offensive lineman Brent Benedict (Jacksonville, Fla./Bolles School). The Tigers and Florida International have sent written offers in the mail.
"I've been getting other letters saying that they planned to offer me," Benedict said. "Illinois, Wake Forest, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, Florida State, Michigan State, UCLA, California and others all have sent me letters."

A South Carolina native, Benedict plans to get to a Clemson game this year and has several other schools he would like to visit unofficially.

"I'd like to get to some games at Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Clemson," he said. "I also think during my open date, I may head out west or something, maybe go check out Michigan State."

Benedict is the younger brother of Heath Benedict, the former Tennessee and Newberry (S.C.) College offensive lineman who passed away before the NFL Draft last spring.
