You dont have to categorize it, I will take it directly from the mouth of Callahan himself. It is an offense that is very similar to what USC runs. It is a combination of classic I formation, smashmouth football, and the ability to spread it out and create favorable matchups, which is tough to do with little talent. It is the same type of offense that is run in the nfl by every team, allthough every team has different wrinkles and elements. It is an attempt to be as balanced as possible and have the ability to strike anyplace, anytime, anywhere on the field.

I'm not picking sides in this slap fight, but can you show a link where Callahan has said this? Also former, I am pretty sure if Callahan recognizes that USC's offense is very similar to ours then I am not going to argue with him. The offense might be similar, but the coaching and execution may be what is different. We will see if this improves and we see if it has the results that USC has. ;)

 
sorry for jumping in this debate a little late but football is a game of match-ups on offense AND defense but with the quality of players and type of players Frank left it was a total overhaul for Callahan - NU was out matched on both sides of the ball. I expect to see much improvement this year though (along with everyone else) but I will not be looking in the win/loss column as some others might. Look for improved execution and effort this year and things will clear themselves up over time.
