Coach Solich Top 25

Does anyone think Frank has additional coaching life in him (back into a BCS School)? Or will he retire in X number of years at Ohio?

He is doing good things at Ohio, I could see a BCS school knocking on his door, but it's not going to be an Alabama or USC. It will be more like an Iowa State or maybe even NC State. I could be wrong, but obviously this is just my opinion.

The thing is, Frank is 68 years old. How many more years will he coach? A couple or three, maybe four or five at most? I'd guess that Frank will retire at Ohio.

/Then again, two weeks ago I guessed that Penn State would beat Ohio. So much for my guessing ability.

I still think that Dr. Tom should have moved heaven and earth to schedule Ohio, just so we could have both teams honor Frank at halftime. :)

Pretty sure T.O. would never schedule Ohio while FS is there simply to avoid that scenario, But will not be surprised (since the MAC has numerous mid-week games) to have Frank get recognized at one of our games.

And even though Frank would be uncomfortable with it, a standing O from a sellout crowd would go a long way in in erasing Pederson's childish gaffes removing all references to him in the football offices.

I'd love to see it and in fact have suggested it to the athletic department a couple of times.

I've been a big supporter of such a moment. It would be one heck of a "full-circle" moment, that maybe both our fanbase and Frank could use to finally close the book on what was a very dark time for both of us. I would imagine that a standing O could become quite emotional for Frank.

Yes, and even more so now that he is being inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame..........well deserved.......

Im just glad that so many are coming back around to remembering what Frank did here for 40+ years, as opposed to 1 bad season as HC and another one that was dubbed "not good enough".

Ohio (6-0) cut it pretty close to Buffalo (1-4) this weekend. They still won 38-31, but it was not pretty.

They won't make it in the AP top 25 at that rate. There were nine unranked teams with more votes last week. The Fighting Frankies need a signature win. Need to hang a half a hunderd on some Buffalo.

/edit (10/23/2012): Or I could be wrong. Congrats to the Fighting Frankies!

That is true- there are a lot of teams ahead of Ohio- it will be fun to watch how this all plays out for them in the next week. BCS rankings come out- i would guess they are top 33. It helps that Penn State won last weekend. Any chance the Fighting Frankies are ranked ahead of us?

He did it this week. AP has Ohio at 25.

From their Bobcat website

Oct. 14, 2012

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University (7-0; 3-0 MAC) is ranked No. 25 in the latest Associated Press College Football poll that was released today. The Bobcats' No. 25 ranking is their first national ranking since 1968.

Ohio moved into the Top 25 in the AP poll after it defeated Akron 34-28 this past Saturday at Peden Stadium. The Bobcats' 7-0 mark is also their best start to a season since 1968 when the squad opened the year 10-0.

"I couldn't be happier for our team," said head coach Frank Solich. "Breaking into the Top 25 is a great accomplishment, but we still have a long ways to go toward accomplishing all the things we set out to do at the start of the season."

Ohio opened the year by picking up a 24-14 win at Penn State and then reeled off victories over New Mexico State, Marshall, Norfolk State, Massachusetts, Buffalo and Akron.

The Bobcats also received a season-high 54 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Ohio will have this week off before returning to action on Oct. 27 at Miami for the Battle of the Bricks. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and can be seen on SportsTime Ohio/ESPN Game Plan/ESPN3.

Good for Frank and the Bobcats. A little concern, however, that they can't put anyone away. Their games are always close and they allow lesser teams/talent to hang around and eventually that bites you.
