I think secretly Utah was trying to get rid of him behind the scenes and he saw the writing on the wall and they let him save face.

Not sure this is a win for Michigan...but Whittingham's definitely going to get paid.

Take one more major job right before retirement, suck for two years before getting fired, and get paid millions for retirement. Sounds like a solid plan.

Seems clear to me he's being brought in as a transitionary force of stability and righting the ship, as they clean house and reel from scandal after scandal. Whitt has made it very clear he's got at least a quarter tank of gas left, and is unanimously considered one of the best at what he does, and has always had an approach that would work well in the B1G.

Plus, who the hell else are they going to get?

I wouldn't say Whittingham and Campbell are "incredible" hires. They were the best available left on the board, I suppose.

Below average I would say. They seem to be safe but mediocre hires.

Seems low for base pay at UM. Wonder what the incentive are
