Coaching Carousal 2025 Version

And those 5 reasons are one writers opinion. I don't want him to go but who are we to say when enough is enough. Especially with our track history over the last 20 years with coaches.

How he performs over the next 6 games and his relationship with his guy at PSU will ultimately decide this imo.
Yes of course - what motivates one person may be / will most likely be different than another. Rhule may be like some Pastors - there are some pastors who are good at starting/pioneering a church but get tired of the 'day to day' of managing a church and they move on to start another church. We'll see soon enough. Maybe if Rhule finishes well and ends the season with only 1 or 2 loses, he may think his job is done and that he's leaving the program for the next guy to build on his success. Problem with today's NIL/Portal world is that coaches normally take their star players with them (star recruits) and so the program ends up with less to build on.

So, Penn State, good luck trying to find the next Cignetti, because the O.G. would be a fool to leave Indiana and miss out on winning a national championship with the Hoosiers.

Cignetti’s a lot of things. Cocky. Savvy. Strategic. A virtuoso. One thing he’s not: a fool.

Penn State job is good. Winning national title at Indiana would be better

Don’t get me wrong, Penn State’s a good job, with resources and a good recruiting base, but the year isn’t 1986, and national championship pursuits are not reserved to bluebloods. This is the time of the nouveau riche. A basketball school with a sharp coach and an NIL bankroll can pursue glory. Cignetti can chase a ring at Indiana, without the pressures of Penn State. Pretty ideal, eh?

Huge contract ??? Pretty darn sure that is what he has at Nebraska. There comes a time when you have to say enough is enough - money is one thing but there got to be more to it than that. The article I linked in my post above states 5 reasons why he stays at Nebraska - very little of it has to do with money.
While I get what you are saying...look at it from the other point of view.

He grew up there
He went to college and played at PSU
His wife went there
His kids are pretty much grown up

It is not like he has any "ties" to Lincoln

I thought Leonhard was a slam dunk hire, but LF was the hot name at the time.

I am sure there is a formula to hire the right guy, but I sure don't know what it is?

LF was good at UCinn, but not for OSU and Wisconsin.

I always wonder if Matt Campbell is in the perfect place for him. Would he struggle at a PSU or NU?

I've never been convinced that Campbell is all that great of a coach. He's done well at a tough place to win but has taken advantage of the weak teams around him. Kind of like Fitzgerald at NW.
