Coaching Carousal 2025 Version

It is like I have said over and over.

The coaches don't care about the fans, none of them do. It is a job for them.
They don't care about the players, no more than any boss cares about his workers.

They all do what is best for them and their family, as they should.

99% of us would move jobs for another 20-50k. It is about two things. Money & for the really top competitive guys..a chance for glory. To win it all.

Lane's a douchey clown but this is largely not his fault, it's the way the calendar and the system work with no safety rails or restrictions. Hate the game, not the player (and for the record the game keeps sucking more and more and more and my interest in college football keeps dwindling)

It is completely his fault. He doesn't have to leave. He's choosing to.

Leaving when your team is just going to a bowl game is kind of accepted with the way the calendar works. Leaving when your team is going to be in the Playoff is all about him.

I love the drama honestly. Sucks for the players though. The calendar does need altered.

He wanted to coach the playoffs, but they said no.

There is a lot to fix in CFB, but no one has the legal authority to do it. The court system has beaten up the NCAA. It is time to kick the NCAA to the side and have a governing board for CFB. The rest of college sports is less complicated.

Wow, this is actually a really good hire for MSU. Clearly Fitz won't get them to a playoff or anything like that but, assuming, he can get a good DC (like that old dude he had), he could have them looking like Minny and Iowa. Super lame but good enough to not get canned.

Good luck to MSU. Fitz is an old school guy who is going to have to adapt to the new realities of college football. And his last 3 non-covid years at NW were bad, like terribly bad.

2019 3-9, 1-8 B1G
2021 3-9, 1-8 B1G
2022 1-11, 1-8 B1G

This. He gets a lot of credit for winning a decent amount at a place that's tough to win at. But he'd have one good season every 2-3 years. The other years looked more like this. I think he gets more credit that is really warranted.

I realize that this makes me "get off my lawn" guy, but I am really disappointed with what college football has become. I used to love it, way prefer it over the NFL. I loved the rivalries, the college atmosphere, everything about it. But it has become nothing but big business, and the game has suffered as a result. I can't blame Kiffin for going to LSU; it's a marquee job. But the way it was handled was terrible. Kiffin throwing his AD under the bus because he "wanted to coach through the playoffs" is absurd. What AD would say yes to that? "Sure coach, keep working with our staff and players, we know you won't be trying to poach everyone you want over the next few weeks." Ridiculous. Kiffin is a giant douche, always has been, always will be. I hope he bombs at LSU, and that game at Ole Miss next year is going to be must see TV.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go yell at some kids running around on my lawn. /rant

I think the regular season is worse but the playoffs are extremely exciting and a much better system than it was before.

There is also a lot more parity in terms of talent.

Yeah, once he lost that old timer as his DC things went downhill.

Like I said, these guys are all about what is best for them.

I have to admit that I am jealous of schools that are looking for or just hired new coaches.

I think we all know Rhule is not "the guy" and I would rather try again now to get that Cigs type of hire, instead of waiting for 2 more seasons.
