If Papuchis is just "Bo's play signaller" as people on here claim, then get rid of him and hire a GA for 75,000 a year to signal plays. Do you really think Papuchis is getting paid 6 figures to signal plays that come into his headset??

Ok. I hear'ya. Now let's flip. If Beck's 100% responsible for the offense. and Papuchis is 100% responsible for the defense, then let's fire Bo and hire a GA for 75,000 a year to sit in the big chair.

Obviously Papuchis's responsibilies are more than just signaling. But Bo is the ultimate brain behind the defense.

Most teams have a full time OC and full time DC. The HC doesn't just have a head coaching title and then act like a coordinator behind the curtain. Are you saying bobby bowden was an expendable body during FSU's rise to greatness?

Bo is the "ultimate brain" behind everything, not just the defense. HE is the one that wanted a spread-option offense when he came to NU, not the West-Coast stuff that Callahan had. He was willing to continue it his first year because that's what his offensive returning starters including Joe Ganz were used to.

HE is the one that so desperately wanted a dual-threat QB, that he forced TMart into the starting role from Martinez's redshirt freshman year day 1.

HE is the one that fired Shawn Watson.

So Bo is NOT just a phantom D-coordinator. He oversees the whole operation, which is what head coaches do. The fact that he is a previous D-coordinator doesn't mean he's still the D-coordinator now. Papuchis should be fired.

Exactly. I mean look at Michigan. Established DC and OC and Hoke walks around without a headset for half the game. Result: 8-4...oops.

So you chose Michigan as your example, instead of say, Ohio St, Bama, LSU, Oklahoma, etc? Yep, best not to let facts get in the way of a good argument.

And you apparently don't know much about tOSU, Bama, and Oklahoma...Urban is the mastermind behind that offense, Saban is the defensive mind for Bama and Stoops is the same for OU. If you say any different, then you do not pay attention very well.

Bo is no different then the forementioned coaches in that he is the one behind the D and the schemes we run.

Jimmy Johnson, but I'd doubt he would return to college coaching or any kind of coaching. He loves warm climates like Florida, but if he could somehow be convinced to brave the cold in Nebraska, he knows how to build a super disciplined team and how to recruit.

Personally I like Rhodes temper and all. He does so much with so little. If Bo could be that productive with our existing talent , then we wouldn't all be sitting here and typing our grievences.

We don't run that many zone reads. That's the Oregon offense, but here it's a change-up. Our passing game isn't a spread the field, short passes with YAC. We grind the ball on the ground when we can and try to hit teams over the top with some deep playaction passing. We couldn't establish the run game tonight, though. They shut that down pretty hard. And once we got down big, we had to start going to the air, but without a viable threat from our ground game, we couldn't beat them that way.

Our offense under Taylor hinges on forcing defenses to commit to stopping the run. If we do that he can hit them over the top and hurt defenses in a lot of different ways. But if we can't, and get down big...it can be tough. Sometime Taylor will be hot and fire lasers; other times he'll be cold, and then the offense shuts down.

Give credit to the Wisky D. Not a lot of teams that could have stopped our ground game like they did.

Alot of teams could have stopped our ground game tonite because we didnt have a ground game tonite. None whatsoever. Not sure if you know it, but? Wisconsin is not that good......So what and why are you saying such stupid stuff like that?.. We started out throwing the ball, and we never quit throwing the ball. Beck got into his famous panic mood, and never quit panicing.... Beck never committed to the run. Our running plays were mostly quarterback scrambles And thats because his offense is mostly finesse. Beck's first priority is to pass block. His offense relys more on pass blocking than it does run blocking. And thats because his offense depends mostly on Taylor Martinez.. Taylor Martinez is the feature of this tuff Beck's lightweight offense.. Because its mostly built for Taylor. Beck has chosen to do it his way,. He continues to waste our backs, and power, by featureing a 170 lb. qb.... This is part of the reason why the other team scored 70.

Did you watch Alabama tonite? Alabama took it to Georgia by depleteing Georgia's defense, on a night where Alabama's defense was a poreous as I have seen. But yet they still won the game, with there rugged brutal running game, useing play action passes. They had over 400 yards rushing, which kept the ball away from Georgia.

Do we have Alabama's "nfl at all 5 spots" offensive line?

Sorry, but right now we have no choice but to rely on the gimicks of spread attacks. Yes, it is sad, but it's the way it is. We are not going to line up and run people over. May not be able to ever again.

I strongly disagree that we rely on spread gimmicks. There's nothing gimmicky about our offense. Since when did "formation" determine our underlying philosophy on offense? Take the Wildcat in the NFL for example, that was a RB taking a shotgun snap, but it was used as a power set. We don't spread the field wide and let our slot receivers find soft spots in the zone to get them the ball.

Even the zone read we don't rely on the way a true zone read team runs it all the time. And it's not that finesse-y to begin with. It's designed to get a numbers mismatch for your ballcarrier and have more blockers than defenders escort the guy downfield. Little different than Osborne's power teams that used the option attack more than we use the ZR.

Yes, Beck has a history of sometimes panicking when we get down and airing it out too much. Score being 49-10 at one point, not sure I can blame him today. I'll allow that I didn't pay enough attention to know if he panicked or not this game. Regardless, I will still maintain that our offense isn't a spread gimmicky one. Rely on pass blocking more than run blocking?!?!??! Please, we need our receivers to run block more than we need them to catch.

Taylor's a 200-lb QB, so Caine, you couldn't be more wrong on all counts here. JMO. Besides, anyone who watched our OSU game knows we have a Belly G offense

I do agree it seems from the stat sheet we didn't ride our RBs enough today. But I think today was more an issue of being not good, period.

The problem with the offense is that our line has very little talent. And are not coached all that well. The scheme is not bad. Plenty of power looks.

Think about this a second. We have 26 linemen listed on Huskers.com. 26, and our starting 3 on the interior (until jackson got hurt) are walk-ons. We have massive problems recruiting linemen. We have not had amazing talent on the line since we fired Tenopir. And the coaches since the hall of famer have been Cotton, Wagner and Cotton again.

I say we suffer one more killing, we cut Bo. This cannot be tolerated. Our players and fans deserve better. We should already be writing up a list of coaching prospects.

How exactly do you know we would not get interest from any of these coaches. I do not think you do. It is your opinion. Nothing more, not ingraved in stone one way or another. If Peterson will go to Arkansas, he most likely would come to Nebraska.

I am not saying fire anyone, I am not really qualified to say who is at fault. But I will say quit blaming the kids, they give it their all every game I think. But we pay coaches a lot of money to do their jobs, and for some of you, that means winning games, not 9 or 10, but games that bring pride to this program. This staff has not done that since the Arizona game.

You can call this a great season, we have won 10 games and to some that is the magic number of greatness. This has been a good season because the kids have overcome what I feel is very poor coaching at every level. In spite of them.

As Polo says this fan base deserves better than the performance we got tonight, not from the kids but from the staff. The staff should know what went wrong and know it instantly. Having no idea after embarassing losses is not acceptable.

We the fans pay for this product, and the amount of money put into this product should give us a good product to great product. We do not have that.

Pelini is one of five coaches ever to win nine or more games in each of his first five years as a head coach. He inherited a 5-7 team, a team that had losing seasons two of the three years prior to taking over, and he's won over 70% of his games following that. His Strength of Schedule over that five years:

2008 - 38

2009 - 52

2010 - 39

2011 - 26

2012 - 36 (current)

So let's start firing Bo when he misses a bowl game, or when he punches a player, or when he does something criminal. Until then, this constant refrain of "fire Bo" is reactionary nonsense.

I know you want this program to be what it once was. We all do. I have to ask, were you in the fire Tom O crowd, back in the 70's. We took a couple of spankings from Okl in those years. Lost to some teams we should not have. Not trying to say Bo is the next T O but, he is still winning and getting us to championship games. Any argument that we win more now, because we play more games against a week out of conf schedule, doesn't hold water either. The only teams back in the 70's were Okl and maybe Mizzo once in awhile, in our conference, that put good teams on the field.

I think Bo has to reevaluate his staff and his D-calling, because it is him, calling the D. This season could have been a disaster, we were close to losing 3 or 4 more games, but we didn't. I have to think the staff and the players didn't let that happen, as a team. They found ways to win. There is some growing pains, this staff and team are still going through, and still winning 9-10 games a season. Lets wait till we have a 6 or 7 win season, before we storm the castle. Bo is still in the learning process with himself, and we know he is still trying to figure out his staff. I am one of the ones, who is still willing to give him more time. All the pieces are not in place yet. I am not looking through scarlet colored glasses, I put those down with BC at the helm. Can you remember any coach losing his job, with the record Bo has. Don't say Solich, Pud had a legacy he wanted to build for himself.
