Cody Green: Team Player

I really like this kid, but with T-Mart, Carnes, and Turner seemingly fitting the mold of what the staff wants to do, I can see him redshirting and either moving positions (wr/te) or tranferring. I wouldn't blame him a bit. Best wishes to Cody.

If he does not see the field this year, can they still red shirt him at the end of the season? I am thinking yes, but do not know the exact rules.

Seems like a great kid. He is going to have to move to a different position since the QB spot is pretty locked up and with Bubba coming in as well.

I wouldn't hold my breath...but I hope your right.

Cody played in our first five games this year.

With all the talk of Green moving to TE I can't help but wonder, is there any evidence that Cody can catch passes or even block at a high enough level to see the field at that position? I honestly doubt that he gets a terrible amount of playing time if he does make the switch. I suspect that this could become a case of, "you made your bed now you have to lie in it". ie: Cody wanted to play QB, and now he has to deal with the possibility that he just isn't good enough to be the starter here at NU.

I don' think there's evidence either way, bob. I think those people talking about Cody moving to TE are looking at his body type and athleticism and thinking out loud more than anything. He may have hands of stone or he could turn into another Kerry Meier.

he's a good athlete, and he doesnt seem to be scared of contact, I dont see why he doesnt have a shot to play somewhere else. we have seen it time and time again in this program. athletically he reminds me a lot of kyler reed.

6'4" 225 with a good burst? if he would agree to redshirt next year you could get him to 250 by fall 2012 pretty easily. he could play d-end for us..... theres a lot better chance getting to the league as a D-line then a QB in Bo's system

Halloween is over, man. Get your mind in the game.

If you're implying Cody has fumble-itis, that remains to be seen. He's coughed it up some, but not so much that I want to label the guy. He's still cool in my book, but then I'm a pretty rah-rah kind of guy.

The thing that bothered me most about Cody Green's fumbles this year was not the turnover aspect, but the fact that I had been really wanting to see how he had progressed. I would say I hope I get another chance to see him play against good competition, but that might mean something bad happened to one of our other quarterbacks... I guess for now I'll just say I hope all his hard work pays off and he is rewarded in some way.

I think the example Lee set for the rest of the team on how to respond to adversity is worth mentioning here. I know things might be different behind closed doors, but at least outwardly it appears that an attitude of "work hard until your number is called" has taken hold.
