Cody Green's brilliant call

Wasn’t there a situation a couple years ago with another early enrolling :star :star :star :star quarterback and a JUCO guy named Zac? <_<

Just like there was a guy named Mike Grant Sr and a true freshman named Frazier, Tommie QB 6-2 200 Fr. came in and started and had a good Nebraska career. <_<

Whats funny is that half of what people are afraid of happening in this thread has happened at Nebraska at one time.

Not saying Green going to be the next Frazier. Just saying strange things can happen.

By the way I would hope the next starting QB for Nebraska is at least better then Ganz or this program is taking a step back IMO.

Nah. What's funny is that we're all talking like any of us know anything and none of us do.

Zac Lee could be the next Joey Ganz minus the INTs.

Zac Lee could be the next Beau Davis.

Cody Green could be the next Mike Grant.

Cody Green could be the next Eric Crouch.

LaTravis Washington could be the next Matt Turmon.

LaTravis Washington could be the next Mickey Joseph.

LaTravis Washington may never ever see the field.

All we have to go on is the snippets we're getting out of camp, and there's always a tinge of unreality to those quotes.

It's the waiting that's killing everyone, no matter what side of the fence you sit on.

Guys I am sorry for this comment but it is the way I feel.

Who has seen Lee compete on the division 1 level? Two passes last year, I think is the total. A very very very few minutes in a game. Listed as number 3 last year, behind Witt and Ganz. No real opportunity to be in the game to show his wares.

How can all of us be so convinced he is the man without seeing him play. I am not saying Green is by any means, but this is a major concern. Very seldom do you go from being number 3 to All conference in one year. Some are talking like that.

He may be just like Ganz and do the job fantastic, but two times in a row does not seem likley.

Just concerned, not predicting failure by any means. Just do not have that warm and fuzzy feeling about Zac yet.
Joe Ganz said on Huskers Sports Nightly that if, after the Gator Bowl and before Witt left the team, he had to choose the next starting quarterback for Nebraska he would have picked Zac Lee.

Even Ganz could see the potential in Lee at the time.

We also must not forget that Lee was a championship level quarterback at a lower division. We all know the competition isn't the same at the level but still, he has game experience and people seem to forget that. Whether it is division 1 or not, it's still something to go off of.

He also looked damn good in the Spring game. Take away the fact that it was a public practice against guys he has been playing with for months, he still looked good.

Many questioned Ganz at this time last year, and he ended up turning into a great Husker quarterback. Maybe not one of "the greats", but a great one in his own right. Have some faith.

Zac Lee could be the next Joey Ganz minus the INTs. Not hard to do. Nebraska defense probably happy to see the QB that scored the most points against them is gone :sarcasm

Zac Lee could be the next Beau Davis. Who?

Cody Green could be the next Mike Grant. The guy that showed promise before injuring himself and never recovered.

Cody Green could be the next Eric Crouch. The option killer (Took the RB out of the option) :madash

LaTravis Washington could be the next Matt Turmon. Hands off to rb and not allowed to throw? Or throw a td on the last possesion and does a flip on the sideline. :o

LaTravis Washington could be the next Mickey Joseph. (Throws passes two feet off the ground or one of the best scrambling qb I've ever seen before getting cheap shot-ted into the bench by Oklahoma.) chuckleshuffle

LaTravis Washington may never ever see the field. To many QB's to name

It's one thing to say, "We haven't seen much of Lee, I'm not sure how he'll turn out." It's completely another to say, as the OP did, "Green was just praised for making a good call in practice, he'll be starting soon."

I don't know how Lee will turn out, but I also accept that the coaches probably know more about this than I do, and if they say he's by far the best we've got right now, I'm sure he is. Hence, I'd never start saying Green will be starting soon based on some praise for a single good call he made in practice.

I have to agree that it stinks pretty highly of the love affair that some fans always have with any QB who isn't the starter.

I'm more worried about the calls Lee makes on Saturday than the one Green did in practice. Unless Zac completely falls apart out there, be glad we have depth, but don't get crazy in thinking a true freshman is going to take us to the next level eight months out of high school.
I'm right there with you X...

'Cuz we're talkin' about practice..
