Colorado AD wants to play Nebraska every year

At Big 12 Media Days, Colorado Athletic Director Rick George expressed a strong desire to renew the Nebraska-Colorado football rivalry as an annual fixture. He emphasized the historical significance of the matchup, originally fueled by coaches Bill McCartney and Tom Osborne, and believes it’s beneficial for college football. While Nebraska has no pressing need for the game in the current playoff landscape, George sees it as a way to elevate Colorado’s profile. The rivalry, once a Black Friday tradition, could return in early September.

The stadium atmosphere was great for the CU game last year. I wouldn't mind seeing them play occasionally but the article is spot on- there just isn't any reason for Nebraska to schedule them.

Yes please. Schedule CU every year. I live in Denver and can get to a game every other year that way. also, they should schedule one at Mile hi

I’m with ya, I’m with ya.

But we really don’t need to do sCUm any favors like this.
I’d be happy with about 2 games every 6 or 8 years. Not very realistic tho with the conferences, schedules and playoffs the way they currently are.

I wouldn't mind seeing it but it would have to be our only P4 OOC game. And we already have a few scheduled years ahead. I don't see this ever happening and frankly CU has a lot more to gain than NU. But it would be fun since the hyper energy level of playing CU is hard to match.

This would be doing sCUm a favor. They need the attention the game always generates. We don't. Plus, our annual Big Ten schedule is hard enough. And if we're going to take a stroll down memory lane, I'd rather we play someone else from the Big 8; Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma.

It is kind of lame to say but anymore it makes no sense to schedule anyone of note.

It is not that an early loss will kill you like it did back when we pretended bowl games were great.

But the playoffs will be at 16 teams soon enough. If you are in the Big Ten or SEC you are really just racing to 10 wins. 10 wins will (for the most part) get you in.

3 non-con wins puts you in a great spot and it really doesn't matter if it is 3 lame teams you beat or 2 lame teams and a "name" team.

So for NU the blueprint is simple

3 lame Non-Con wins and then you just hope you don't get that crazy conference schedule of OSU, Oregon, PSU, Michigan and USC all in the same season.

Not that NU is scared to play good teams but the goal is to make the playoffs.

Indiana had that gift schedule last year and they took advantage of it.

I'd like to see us schedule some other old Big 8 members way before I want to see CU again. A home & home with K St, Kansas or Iowa State were easy away games to travel to for the fans. I don't want to lock in to any of them permanently though.
I like this idea alot, it beats scheduling random opponents where Nebraska doesn't have much history facing them.

That Colorado game was a lot of fun, and honestly Iowa St, Kansas and KState would represent quality non-conference opponents that would be fun games to play.

If I was the Colorado AD I would also want a guaranteed home sellout every other year.

I'd love to keep playing them, but throw in some other Big 8/Big XII North foes as well. Three home and home series and one neutral site every 10 years against old conference foes would be amazing.
