Colorado Talk Shows

Clone,

That is the type of humor I can actually tolerate (I take exception to the L already in front of the Colorado game though), mainly because we say the same thing about other schools all of the time (week OOC). Also, because it has a wee bit of truth to it (albeit not much).

What I do not like is the direct attacks on the players and the fans themselves, the vandalizing of cars, the throwing of batteries, etc. etc. etc.

The Rocky mountain News reported this morning that CU coaches have put out red jersey across from the starters to gear up for the game. The talk from Barnett is that because they lost the game purely due to turnovers, that will be corrected for the 25th.

After watching CU play and reviewing the Big 12 official stats, CU will win if both teams bring their A game. The big disadvantage for us will be rushing since CU is tops in rushing defense. On the other hand CU has poor pass defense and that is our best opportunity. CU leads in penalties and we are high up the chart on punt return averages. So bottom line, if we bring our A game and get some turnovers and good field postion, maybe there is a chance. Of course the Vegas odds will be tilted toward CU, but I'm hoping for an upset.

ISU fans can also be pretty rude when they are playing well
Since I live in Iowa this is a very true statement I work with some ISU fans and they are just loving this "slow" period in Nebraska football. But come November 25th they already told me they will be Nebraska fans!!! Only because if Nebraska wins and Missouri loses their game Iowa State is in the Big XII Championship against Texas!!! Holy S&^t think of the score of that game!!!!

My one and only trip to Boulder for a CU - NU game was in the late 1960's. Wanted to treat my two younger brothers to a big time college game and night on the town in Denver before both went into the Army and Viet Nam. We had a good night in Denver with a great dinner at the Golden Ox (still there?), but the game was scary.

The CU fans were rude and threw snow balls at the NU fans. We got out of Boulder as fast as we could after the game. That was way before the NC years. From the comments above, CU fan got worse rather than better. I've disliked CU ever since. I'd like to see the Big Red beats the living s**t out of them.

IMO, CU fans are very much contrary to the norm in Colorado sports-- for one thing, Broncos/Rams/Avs/Rockies/Nuggets/etc certainly fans don't have the bad fan-treatment reputation that CU has.

and, most of those other teams have very good attendence records (well, not the Rams & Rockies); CU meanwhile has to schedule impossible OOC teams just to get butts in the seats!

There are intense rivalries for those teams too, some more intense than NUvsCU. but could you see, for example, the Broncos putting a Raiders score on an AFC Championship ring?!

and that was "all joking aside" part?!  ;) not to defend CU fans but most of them aren't from the backwoods of the Deep South...
Who said I was talking about the south? That is your assumption. There are plenty of people in the North that fit this description. Pardon my play on words, but I did take a small bit of liberty. I am really surprised that you could not pick that up.
lighten up Red, it was a joke. I didn't think the sarcasm emoticon was needed but apparently it was.

so here it is, post-post: :sarcasm

Damn, you can try to justify their behavior any way you wish, but in the end, some people just take things WAY too seriously. Most of these people are how old? And they are willing to vandalize or harm over football? What about this behavior do you feel is NOT idiotic?
i had to recheck my post as i didn't remember suggesting that such behavior somehow wasn't idiotic- and i didn't. I also wasn't "justifying their behavior", I was lamenting how pathetic they are and why, IMO, they focus so much of their hatred on Nebraska. b/c as i said, its not just their fans that act on their Husker-obsession-- its even the program and the players!

I knew a guy that was from CO, moved to Omaha, went back to CU for a CU-NU game, in the early 90s. The stupid "doooooosh bag" Fluffs fans ripped his NE plates off of his car, even though he had a Univ of CO license plate holder, and CU stickers in the window :dumdum

You're right about the CU fans being different from the fans from the other CO colleges and pro teams. I've attended Broncos and AVs games and those fans are very decent to the opposing team players. The only real threat to my well being was when the Raiders' fans came to Denver.

This mindset started way before the Red Letter Day estblished by McCartney. He and Osborne were actually good friends and were both good Christian men. Coach McCartney told me a few years ago that the game was only a game and the fans took it way too seriously.

If any of you attend the game be very careful in the parking lot. Don't bring a vehicle with anything Husker or NE on it. Also, walk in a group of friends! The hate for the Huskers is beyond comprehension. They feel that if they had a 1-10 season, it would be successful if that one was NU.

Morons.....Idiots......

Not all CU fans, but any with this mindset. This is such a alpha-male reaction over a football game. I never could comprehend these substandard and juvenile actions on the behalf of fans. Not all of these individuals can be that stupid. Maybe they are just drunk. Anyway, hope everyone who is going (to the FOOTBALL game) makes it there and home safely. Can you believe in 2005, we actually have to hope people will be safe at a football game? This kind of crap is so disturbing, and to believe these people are ones that are voting. :WTH

I just posted a thread on www.allbuffs.com and complimented the CU team for what I think is a good squad. At this point I think it's best to rise above the squalor of demeaning talk and hope that most fans from the opposing team will congratulate the winner on the 25th. After all this is supposed to be a sport and not a world conflict aginst an enemy.

NU fans have always been good sports to visitors to Memorial stadium and we can only hope that things will be improved in Boulder. At this point I'm not inclined to throw stones, but want a clean game in good weather.

I've been to Boulder twice, sat in the CU faculty section and was w/a buddy and I was never harassed or had my car screwed with. Maybe I was one of the lucky minority!
