Commish is the boss in Big Ten

CHICAGO — Any need-to-know list for this week's Big Ten football media days can be boiled down to two rules.
Rule No. 1: If news emerges Thursday and Friday from the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, it will come from Commissioner Jim Delany — or at the very least with his permission.

It didn't take much time hanging around this league to learn that Delany is large and in charge.

"Boy, you can say that again," said an official from a certain school that recently moved from the Big 12 to the Big Ten.
As for entertainment value this week, the highlight might be that ever-jovial Nebraska coach Bo Pelini will be ordered to sit at a table for two hours Friday morning and take media questions.
Texas is getting so pushy that even Missouri coach Gary Pinkel found a spine and lashed back, telling the Longhorns to play fair or go independent.

This is my favorite line in that article. Did make me chuckle.

I know Nebraskans won't miss being involved in that soap opera. But for a sportswriter, that conflict was solid gold.
