Concerns about the D and telling quotes

Just so we're all clear, we're using Banker's short time here of 9 months, with players he's never worked with before, and a scheme they've never used before, in conjunction with a three game sample, to say he's "married" to his defense? And further insinuate that he's not going to make adjustments by saying "let's face it?" And, already, we know it's not anomalous?

I'm sorry, but, I can't get behind that at all.

While some are busy coming up with excuses, our opponents are using Oregon State video to prepare for Bankers vaunted defense.

So, what college football teams have been doing to scout their opponents since the advent of video technology is now reason enough to essentially proclaim Banker and his defense a lost cause?

Well, consider me befuddled. Next you're probably going to tell me something preposterous like teams actually scheme to beat their opponents. That'll be the day, am I right?

Again...this is not Bankers 3rd game as a DC...It is probably his 100th game as a DC.

A lot of people wanted that run stuffing defense...I wanted a complete defense. We have flipped the stats...from bad against the run and good against the pass...to bad against the pass and good against the run (sort of, I guess Miami ran for a decent amount).

I don't see anything in Bankers history that tells me this will change. I thought with all the coaches on defense having so much experience that it might and it still could but it just doesn't seem like it.

Unfortunately I was stuck on a plane and didn't get to see the game. I was very interested in what adjustment Banker had up his sleeve. It seems he either did nothing or did the wrong thing. I have been skeptical since he was hired because he has never had great defenses. What adjustments were made? It appears that the Huskers still gave up yards, but only allowed FGs instead of TDs.

Davie shouldn't see the field again this season. That's a start to fixing the defense.
But they scored 19 after he was benched. My point being is it all on Davie or more an issue to the scheme as whole? I think its more schematic than player specific. If this is Bankers system for the past decade can he/will he adjust.
How many mins did they score the 17 points in vs the 19?
He got benched in the first quarter.... How do you attempt to make this analogy?
I guess I could have said he only threw 1 TD against Davie, and another one in the game later on. Or that he threw for 143 yrds in the first quartet and 236 after or went for over 200 yrds on first downs alone, but yea Davie sucks. It's his fault NU lost. The scheme is perfect. He failed to execute......... My point being Davie had issues. My point being that Stewart hinted at a fix as did Banker. The point being, Banker and Stewart don't have a fix. Coming into Miami we were ranked 119 against the pass......
"Although the scheme is far from perfect", then you mock hinting I believe the scheme is perfect...nice. Even your 143 yards in the 1st quarter (15 minutes) vs 236 the rest of the game (45+ minutes) doesn't make sense with your point. Yes I've seen our scheme get picked apart, but I've seen Davie be picked apart for 3 straight games. JROSE doesn't seem to get picked apart, even when he has gone over to Davie's boundary position. So I still stand at yes the scheme might need some tweaks but I do think getting Davie out (at least till he finds his confidence) will help substantially.

Banker was the one name I wasn't sure about when the new staff came along. I know it's early but we look like sh*t. There is really no other way to put it. Guys are wide open. No intensity.

And to add to it, everyone was fine with our secondary coming into the season. In fact, from most of the boards, media, etc people thought this was our strong point of the defense along with the d line which has been non-existent.

If you have concerns about the D, you should probably go have a doctor check it out.
I had concerns about the D and went to my doctor, and he wrote Banker a prescription for Viagra.

Hopefully we'll have a firm D for a full game now...though if it lasts for more than four hours or we go into OT, we'll need medical staff ready.

They scored 17 in one quarter with Davie in and 19 in 3 quarters and OT with Davie out. The verdict is pretty clear that the defense is better with Davie on the bench.

What any team does with new coaches is watch film from their past teams. Just ... stop.
That wasn't exactly the point.
Oh, it wasn't?

Because I think that is exactly the "point" you were trying to make.

I don't f'ing get this.

Bo Pelini and John Papuchis were terrible defensive guys the last few years. And people are eviscerating Banker because he didn't get us a top rated defense within 3 games?

The Huskers played like crap for 3 1/2 Qtrs. Davie lead the $h!t show by getting his jock blown off till he found a good spot to sit. Could the coaches have helped him in the scheme, yes. Did they, No. It might have to do with VV not being available. That was a pretty big loss for the defense. J Rose was able to cover much better.
