From article I've read (but can't find right now) IF a conference wants a CCG, it must satisfy: 1) 12 or more member schools playing football and 2) the contestants MUST be be the eligible champion of each of two divisions.

The NCAA website is a huge pile of unsearchable mayhem. Obama-care legislation is more user friendly.

I don't think that it is a law that you MUST divide into 2 divisions and have a CCG, but the only way that you CAN do that is if you have 12 teams. I could be wrong.

If I'm reading your post right, then there's no reason a 10 team conference shouldn't have a CCG.

Here's how I understood the rules. Only a conference with 12 teams or more can have a CCG.

There are no requirements to split conferences or have a CCG though if you do have 12+ teams
