The release of the basketball schedule shows that our “single plays” (teams we only play once) consist of Wisconsin and Minnesota at home and Iowa and Michigan St on the road.

Any rhyme or reason that can be discerned from this?

All the singles are from our own current division. (Wisky next year)

Wisky, Minnie, and Iowa are just about the closest geographically.

Probably just on some sort of rotation as the singles were Ohio St., Michigan, Purdue and Northwestern last year. I don't think basketball goes by divisions.

No they don't but wouldn't logic dictate that you try and foster rivalries with those closest to you geographically? For fan considerations and travel, if nothing else.

Yeah, you would think they would try to arrange it so you were not "singled" on all the close ones in a given year.

Technically, there are no divisions in basketball but I agree that it's rather ridiculous that we only play Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin once next season.
