Not in the spread... maybe defensive end?4.7 is absolutely fine for a power back
3rd and 1 is 3rd and 1, spread or not. Give big boy the ball and let him go to work. Not in the spread... maybe defensive end?4.7 is absolutely fine for a power back
I'd rather give the ball to Rex Burkhead on 3rd and 1.3rd and 1 is 3rd and 1, spread or not. Give big boy the ball and let him go to work. Not in the spread... maybe defensive end?4.7 is absolutely fine for a power back

That would be perfectly fine with me.With Marrow leading the way*I'd rather give the ball to Rex Burkhead on 3rd and 1.3rd and 1 is 3rd and 1, spread or not. Give big boy the ball and let him go to work. Not in the spread... maybe defensive end?4.7 is absolutely fine for a power back
Oh, Gawd no.IF he ends up playing on the offensive side of the ball and is the short yardage back, he would be a great decoy at times. 3rd and 1/4th and short play action would be genius.
Worked pretty well for Suh his Jr yearYou can't just always give him the ball on third and short, or the defense will know what to expect. You can't only put him in for short-yardage situations, or the defense will know what you're going to do every time he's in the game. That's why you need every-down backs, like Nebraska has always had. Even 250 lb Dan Alexander was an every-down back, not just short-yardage.
Back when Nebraska ran the I-formation, this guy could have been a fullback. But back then, we didn't just give the ball to our fullback every time it was 3rd and 2. The only reason we gave the ball to the fullback was if the defense was too busy trying to stop the QB and the IB.
Assuming we run the spread option, I don't see how this guy fits in any role other than the one that Tyler Legate played last year.

No. Suh was a decoy 99% of the time. That's the whole point. I mean, I guess I should have said that you could only put him in when we run into a third and short situation, but you can't put him in every stinking time we get to a third and short situation. Unless we're completely moving away from the spread option. Some people seem to think we need some big bruiser back that will guarantee us a first down every time we get to third and short, but football doesn't work that way.Worked pretty well for Suh his Jr yearYou can't just always give him the ball on third and short, or the defense will know what to expect. That would really surprise me. It just wouldn't make sense in terms of the direction we've been moving with the offense since Pelini arrived. You can't just always give him the ball on third and short, or the defense will know what to expect. Oh sure, it doesn't have to be him carrying the ball. But NU running the ball on 3rd & shorts the vast majority of the time is what I want. We get to where we can usually do that successfully we'll be close to unstoppable.
Why would they take the guy unless they want to use him? Who knows for sure but I'm betting we see Tmart under center a lot this year.
