Nebraska fullback Dane Todd and Washington & Lee tennis player Katie Kingsbury won the Walter Byers scholarship, the NCAA’s highest academic award. Each receives a scholarship for $21,500 and can renew the scholarship for a second year based on academic performance. Todd, an all-conference player with a 4.0 grade-point average, earned a degree in biology last May and has spent the past year as a teaching assistant. Kingsbury, a two-time all-conference player, has a 3.99 GPA and is to earn a degree in psychology in June. The award is named for the NCAA’s first executive director, who guided the organization for nearly four decades.

Good for them. :clap :clap :clap

GBR!!!

I thought i read somewhere, that Todd was going to Med-school. If that is the case, that scholarship should help pay the bills for a little while.

Congrats to him. It reflects very well upon him and upon the University of Nebraska.

I have heard this referred to as the "academic Heisman," something to definitely be proud of.

Is this the "top eight" award handed out. A few Huskers have won that award as well
