Coordinator openings

This has nothing to do with perfomance, but rather there desire to take head coaching jobs.

Norvell and Cosgrove could find something after this year. What about Mcarthey (ISU) or even Alvarez (Wis) as cordinator. They both have worked with and coached with Callahan. Callahan likes to hire people he knows and trusts....these two would work?!?!

Also Alvarez is an alumni

Just a thought.

I think that Callahan would go outside his circle of friends to hire an assistant this time as he would probally have only one or possibly two openings to fill rather than a whole staff. I believed he filled out his staff with people he knew the first time because he knew what was to be expected and didn't want to do a whole lot of research on each and every person that was to be hired on to his staff.

(... hack looks at watch, waiting from someone is gonna say, "pelini".)

okay, Alvarez isn't going to come to Nebraska. if he does, it's for all the marbles, not DC job. the man was the Badger's HC and i think he's happy being the Bobfather of Madison.

tho i was surprised that his name was dropped for miami, which kinda makes sense as he and donna shalala have a history (she hired barry at UW, one of the few smart things she's done in here career).

speaking of miami, i heard that Leach might be in the hunt for the job at Miami. looking for the source, but if that's true Miami could be a *very* dangerous team in a few years. and if fruitie-loops leach can unthuggify the 'cane, more power to him.

McCarney at Nebraska... i'm having a real problem wrapping my brain around that one. that would make two former HC on our staff as far as i know (coach blake being the other)

i don't see it personally. i'm thinking he might a job in the MAC and spend some quality time with Frankie.

'course, this is all assuming that coz and norvell leave. my view on it: they don't go unless they get a big twelve championship or national championship. only then after they're offered big, stinkin' gobs of cash... the type of money you give to a person infront of a large audience on a over-sized check like 'happy gilmore'.

coz and callahan have been waiting for a chance to coach together for years. norvell and callahan are like butch and sundance (or lucy and ethel, depending on the game) of football: they feel comfortable together and they think they're a good team.

i mean, for what it's worth.

The way Callahan was talking up Busch you'd figure he will be Nebraska's future DC.

could be way off though. :corndance

Barry Alvarez coming here as a DC makes perfect sense..

He misses the coaching and the comraderie and wouldn't have to deal with the press as much as a Head Coach..Nothing to prove..I still remember him coaching Lexington...(Bitter rival) when I was in Grade School.

I dont think either will be going anywhere, yet. Cos doesnt seem to want to be a head coach, so I dont see him wanting to jump to take another DC job this soon. Norvell, I think wants to be a head coach, but 3 years as a OC generally isnt enough, especialy with how erratic we were the first two years. Another year or two at the top of the offensive stats he will probly get a job offer.

I just don't see Alvarez coming here to be a DC. If he goes to Miami I feel extremely sorry for him and it will be the biggest mistake in his life....there is not enough money in the country for me to coach in Miami. I don't know why anyone would want to coach down there. Talk about career suicide!!!!
