Corey McKeon

This is awesome.

You listen to a guy talk for 20+ minutes and some of you don't understand what he was talking about or just flat out didn't hear some of it. Unreal.

I guess I am assuming those of you who I am talking about saw or listened to the entire thing. I really think you'd have to see it to get the full effect of what he's talking about. Like most press conferences, seeing it in print or even hearing it isn't the same as seeing it.
My knee reaction was to the quote in the post only. I did not watch it or see it. My question is, what are you saying Dave? Because I dont understand what you meant. Was there more to what he said?

Some like the "Scary Clown person" on here and on the Radio are reading personal "Crybaby behavior" in Corey's comments, but are somewhat unable or unwilling to see he is mainly sticking up for his teammates and coach.

Exactly what a Team Captain should do.

Come on..have so few of you ever played past high school?

You don't see Tierre Green, struggling to put his pads on to go practice. YOu don't see, like his teammates, helping him pulls his jersey, his Blackshirt on, so he could put his pads on. You don't see that. And he goes out and works his butt off as hard as he can so he could prepare for Ball State... That's the stuff people don't see. People only see the game. I really, really feel sorry for people, because I wish they could see what people are going through."

Any former Huskers reading this..Pipe in.

The play of Dilliard the last few weeks, and the consistent play or lack there of from Mckeon, has thrust Dilliard (or should) into the starting spot.

GO BIG RED

McKeon making excuses (let's face it, that's what he did today) doesn't bother me as much as the fact that it looks like he's lost his fire. I'm happy to hear that Dillard might get more reps this weekend. Change is needed.

I hate to hear these guys complain because they have it so much better than they even know. A good player would take all this criticism and do something positive with it. We're about to find out a lot about the character of our team over the next month.

well, if he has lost his drive, then it should come as no surprise to him that Dillard is replacing him.

encumbants have no right to the job, they should be won and lost every week. at least i hope Coz is looking for improved play from other guys than his seniors, if it is clearly definable? but hell, who knows how this thing works, other than what is being done now is NOT WORKING!

I am not sure that I agree with you. "New Breed" is very relative. When I here language like this, I get images of Dana Carvey playing the grumpy old man say "I remember when I was young." I think there has alwasy been fans with many different perspectives; although, now opinions are much more available to the masses via internet. If recuits do not know that fans are going to like much of what players do and if recruits do not know they will receive scrutiny with suspect play, then they themselves have never been a fan of a team that has lost or played badly. In short, I believe recruits are well aware of the highs and lows of playing on a sports team. I f they believe they can come in and play poorly and be praised for it, then they are in the category of "extremely ignorant".

I also do not believe they are tarnishing Husker Nation.....yet. The defensive perfomances are.

That used to be what separated us from Gator fans or Colorado fans.

And who goes on to the next level thinking they are going to "play poorly"? Especially the 4*-5* athletes?

These kids may have grown up in the "internet box" age, but who would expect letter writin' to escalate to this?

I worked 2-3 jobs while I was going to school (slept on Tuesdays), but I didn't get my anual review from each job more than once a year and it was never published for a gazillion internet readers to haggle over or try to read between soundbites into what I REALLY meant.

"From the outside looking in you don't understand it. From the inside looking out you cant explain it."

Those of you ripping into Mckeon have no idea what it is like to be a blackshirt right now. He goes out and gives the most candid interview of his life and you throw him to the piranahs. Until you walk in their shoe's, I suggest you refrain from questioning McKeon's character when you have no discernable insight into his mind. Else I'll send Mike Gundy to berate you.

I dont think people are listening to the entire press conference. Here is the video.

Corey isnt happy with the way the defense is playing. He knows he isnt playing good. Listen to the kid before you bash him.

Who's Dana Carvey?

Kidding..He's even 5 years older than ME...But by the time Chevy Chase and John Belushi left SNL, I was usually chasing Tail on Saturday Nights.

It's normal for fans to have a different perspective if they started with this addiction after '94 or so and not have the scars from Barry Switzer's Sooner Magic" like some of the rest of us with bad knees/backs.

I'm actually a "bandwagon fan" myself..Not really following them until the '71 season after we'd already won it all the year before (or tied with USC?).

As I heard on the radio from a caller today, I'm sure there are many 18-22 year-olds fighting in Iraq who would gladly put up with the pressure of playing football in Lincoln, Nebraska.

What's happening is exactly why we so often get coach or media-speak from people. I don't care for everything McKeon said, but I think some of it he just said the wrong way (or in a way that can easily be misunderstood). When you get people speaking from the heart, it often doesn't get taken quite as you intended it.
