Cosgrove's Resume

I'm not going to argue the stats, but I would say that in my opinion a better stat to ascertain a defenses worth in winning games is points allowed. In my opinion, most other defensive stats simply lead to that stat.

Ok fair enough.

Nebraska's D is giving up an avg of 29 pts per game so far this year.

2006 18 allowed points per game Won 9, Lost 5

2005 21 allowed points per game Won 8, Lost 4

2004 27 allowed points per game Won 5, Lost 6

Prior to Coz arriving at Nebraska (Pelini)

2003 14 allowed points per game Won 10, Lost 3

2002 23 allowed points per game (Bohl) Won 7, Lost 7

2001 17 allowed points per game (Bohl) Won 11, Lost 2

I see a very scarry trend here. Our defense under Coz is no better then when Bohl was here. That aint cutting it and I sure as hell hope that Stevie sees it as well and does something about it! Another staggering point that I want to bring up is that our D now has only sacked the QB a total of 4 times this year!!! Playing against Neveda, Wake Forrest, and Ball State. This stat is HORRENDOUS! Not to mention that we are ranked 99th in Rushing Defense so far this year. That is not including todays stats! I for one LOVE what Callahan is doing with the program. He can really coach offense and has become part of the Husker family for years to come. The players love him BUT......There comes a time when he has to sit down and think what is best for this program I.E. defensive coordinator. I know it will be one of the most difficult things he has to do in letting Coz go. Especially after their long history together but IF he is truely a Husker, then he will do what is right!
