Courtney Osborne's hit on Gabbert has been sent to Big 12 for review?

So is Nebraska the only team that has had a suspension for these "hits"? If that is true, makes me wonder what is happening in all the other games around the Big XII that we are the only suspensions? Guess they are playing flag football in all the other games.

I hope Osborne gets suspended. Because if two Nebraska players get high profile suspensions 2 weeks in a row, its only a matter of time before public opinion shifts towards pulling the BS card.
Or everybody thinks we're dirty. <_<

Nebraska is the only Big XII team to have a player suspended for these hits. There have been a couple of other players suspended around the country.

I've been thinking the same thing.

In fairness the rule was implemented in 2009.

That said, considering how many tackles and hits there are on any given Saturday in the Big 12 conference, two players from the same school in consecutive weeks should raise a red flag and should force the Big 12 to start reviewing and making judgments on every single game. I really hope this ends up biting them in the @$$.

Furthermore, how can this have been the first time the entire season that something is reviewed and a player is suspended? There is no way there wasn't at least one other hit similar to this in the Big 12 up to that point.

I can't really blame Pinkel for wanting the play reviewed. However as discussed before Osborne's hit was not targeting, and if he is suspended it will hit the fan. The reaction could go one of two ways 1. The big 12 is making the calls as revenge on Nebraska for leaving the conferance. 2. Will reflect negative as the perception will be that Nebraska is thugs and we will be thought of like Miami back in the day. I fear the later will take place. If someone takes the time to look at the hits and understand the rule they will see that we are getting hosed. However most people watch sportscenter and that is all the further they will look into this.

The funny thing is big hits have been happening forever. Anyone remember the 1978 Oklahoma game, the 'hit' by John Ruud? In today's day and age he would have been suspended the next game for 'targeting a defenseless player'. It's gotten waaaay out of control.

Jack Tatum would have perma banned from the NFL for life if he were playing now. Spearing is one thing but big hits are just that, big hits.

LET THEM PLAY!

:bonesflag:
EXACTLY!

Is it normal for coaches to do this? Isn't there some kind of "code" between coaches to NOT go running to the Big 12 crying about a hit? I mean, if the hit was a concern, it would of found it's way to the Big 12 office anyways, right?

Notice how blaine isn't standing upright. He's going into the fetal position what do you do? One of the Missouri players tackled high on martinez but the helmets didn't collide. It's bogus. Plus Pinkel's quote in the OWH say he didn't think the hit was intentional....so why is he sending it in? What a baby.
