This is getting a little out of hand.

Grand Island, and North Platte have both had sightings with the ones in Grand Island chasing people with knives. "Clowns" in Greeley, CO allegedly threatened to shoot up 2 schools on Halloween. Multiple states have reports.

Whether innocent or not. It is absolutely creepy and a little bit unsettling.

I don't know about the other locations but in Greeley, CO they traced it back to social media rumors. There were no actual clown sightings. Lots of kids stayed home from school last Thursday because of the threat rumors. Police traced it back to a 15 year old girl from one of the local high schools. She got kicked out of school and is in big legal trouble.

 
Whatever happened to staying at home and just making prank phone calls for entertainment?

EDIT: NOT PRANK PHONE CALLS TO THREATEN PEOPLE in reference to the above information.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to put on a clown costume and try to harass people. It's the kind of thing that sounds like a good idea to a certain subset of society, but the ones who act on it end up arrested, shot, or with their a$$ kicked.

 
So what is the out of hand part? People, if any, actually dressing up like clowns and doing sh#t, or anyone and everyone that sees any sort of slightly (very slightly) suspicious anything anywhere assuming its a clown about to shoot up the world?

It's was all fun and games until they invented caller ID, that screwed up everything! "Is your fridge running? You better go an catch it!" *click* (ring ring) "Oh, s&^t! Mom is gonna be pissed!"

I didn't really care about this when it was happening in other cities, but two or three students in our rural area saw clowns along county roads last night. Someone's going to end up shot by a farmer.

 
Two kids from my daughters HS got suspended today for putting clown pics on social media. (crappy photoshop job with clown by/in the school)
