I just think it is ignorant to say their fans are terrible because they like our football team and not our basketball team. I will take a husker fan any day.
I am a student here at NU, and I attend almost every home basketball, football, baseball, and occasionally a soccer game or track meet. I bleed husker red.
With that being said, when Nebraska's bball season is over, I do root for the bluejays. Not because I like them more, it is because our season is over and I would rather have a team from Nebraska do better than a team from anywhere else. I understand there are people who have only liked the Jays since they started to do well, but that is what happens in sports. I don't think it is fair to say the majority of Creighton fans are idiots because a lot of them are Husker fans, too. So what if they want to be fans of their bball team, they are from Omaha, and that kind of gives them a right to cheer for the home team. I want our program to pick up, and when it does, people will start to show up again. Let the Creighton fans be fans, and lets not be bitter about their success. Ours will come soon enough.
Sorry for the long post, I am just saying it isn't like this is uncommon. It happens all the time in sports and lets not try to turn them off of liking Husker football just because they cheer for a different bball team. They are in an odd situation up there, and many of them are bandwagon fans. One can be fans of more than one team. Would I like to see more allegiance one way or the other, sure, but it isn't like we play them a whole lot.
