Crouch's catch

Did that play start with Crouch in the shotgun?? Apparently he had to be in order to be an eligible receiver. I can't find any video footage anywhere so does anyone remember if he was behind center or in the shotgun? I keep thinking he was behind center and then pitched it to Thunder.

He was under center and Thunder started in motion. He handed off to Thunder like it was going to be a counter. Thunder tehn pitch to Stuntz. Mean while Crouch is running around end and up the sideline. What sold the play was that the counter to Thunder had been used plenty of times during the year.

I'm asking because on a sports radio show here in KC, you call in and try to stump the hosts with a sports question, if they don't get it they ask you a question. Well the host asked back "Why was Eric Crouch an eligible receiver on that play? I was thinking well he pitched the ball behind him and behind the line of schrimmage to Thunder and he can do what he wants after that. But I guess you have to be in the shotgun. How strange.

Are you positive on that? I can almost see it taking place from the shotgun.

That is how I remember it as well. Wow, that never gets old watching that play. Does this mean that that play should have come back for illegal procedure and the refs blew the call?

The QB doesn't need to be in the shotgun - all he has to do is make a backward latteral to recieve a catch - whoever told you that he has to be in the shotgun is a f'ing moron.

Thats KC sports talk show for ya. I know the show husker in kc is talking about that one is not that bad but the other ones suck.

the quarterback does not need to be under center. All that needs to happen is a handoff behind the line of scrimage and a backwards pitch (Thunder to Stuntz). A team can have as many pitches as it would like as long as all of them are behind the line of scrimage before they try to throw the ball down field as a forward pass.

That site has it's movies mislabeled. Some of them say Wistrom Catch when I think they mean Gilman. I don't recall Grant ever playing as a TE. :dumdum
