BOULDER, Colo. -- It may seem football and rowdy fans go hand-in-hand, but University of Colorado officials are warning fans: keep it clean or you may get kicked out.
School officials say they will be strictly enforcing the sportsmanship code in Saturday night’s home opener against Florida State University.
The code includes no profanity and no insulting officials.
Security officers will work the student section for the entire game, and officials will promote a hotline to report bad behavior.
"We'd like to remind them of the expectations for doing the right thing, welcoming our opponents and cheering hard for our team," said Mike Bohn, CU athletic director.
Violators could be ejected from the game or for the entire season, and if they are CU students, they could be subject to “strikes” and Judicial Affairs referral.
CU police also will be cracking down on rowdy fans that smuggle alcohol into the game or throw objects on the field.
