Dana Altman To Arkansas

Good Luck to Dana. It sounds like he is moving into a good situation there, in terms of taking over a lot of talent. Creighton would not have been very good this year. His recruiting will have to improve if he wants to keep Arkansas a power.

This is surprising. I figured Kevin McKenna would had stayed and taken over CU. And he's gone, too. After McKenna took the Indiana State job, I figured Altman was staying put. <_<

Perhaps McKenna left because the AD didn't want to hand over the reigns to him. That might have caused him to be so confident in taking another job, even with Altman's name being floated around to such high profile jobs.

Yeah, it didn't seem like he wanted the iowa job though. Huh, well good luck. I think the bluejays may have personnel issues next year anyways.

yeah, I heard that as well from a reliable source. I'm glad to see him back. I had numerous conversations with him during the summer at work and he is a great guy. I am a Nebraska fan first, but it is nice to have a hometown team in postseason play until Nebraska gets there.

Are him and Nick Saban friends by any chance? I know it's not really the same thing...but you see what I'm getting at...

Actually it's all about "Pig Sooie." When the Arkansas staff and it's fans did that goofy cheer during the press conference, Altman knew right then he was out of place. Did you see the look on his face when he was participating? :rollin It says it all.

Pig Sooie! Pig Sooie! Pig Sooie!

No thank you.

Don't compare Altman to Saban. I don't think anyone could question Altman's character, loyalty or leadership. I honestly think he accepted the job because of the media and outsiders saying "He is the next new name on the national level" and a little ego thinking he should take the money and should prove himself on a 'higher' competition level.

But I honestly think when he made the statement at the end of his speech "With your permission, I'd like the Arkansas job to be where I end my career" a light switched on (or off) for him.....that isn't what he wanted. He's a good man, a loyal man, and I think a lot of the "We're disappointed in him" comments from Omaha, the University and most of all, his players, had a big impact on his final decision.

Plus....he probably didn't like this sign greeting him at the state border:

Big Sooie was the last straw. I'm sure he was second guessing himself before, but Pig Sooie was the final blow. That perhaps got him really thinking about the reality of his decision.

Pig Sooie! Pig Sooie! Pig Sooie!

Not in my lifetime!!!
