Dana Holgorsen Hired as Offensive Coordinator

Yeah hopefully Dana stays and hopefully a new crop of OL talent can come in and perform better than the outgoing bunch.

We gash teams for big runs and then decide to just forget we can run and throw ourselves to the sideline.

I just can't do it anymore with this s*** in particular. I don't care who the offensive coordinator is, I don't care whether it's Holgorsen's first game or his 21st with our team. It's on Rhule and it's one of those things that makes you feel like Rhule doesn't have a handle on the details.

His first game, he did ayight.  

Running game looked pretty good except when USC sent more players into the box.  EJ and Dowdell appeared to have some juice and excitement.  Looked really good.  The flow of the offense had more energy at times.  Passing game was still meh though.

It wasn't awesome or anything, but did look better at times throughout the game.

Baby steps.

Dana’s running game uses counters and different gap schemes. Our OL seems to reach to much, limited bend and ability to pull or kick out. He gets a pass. Current OL isn’t athletic enough for his running game.  We also have no bell cow back.  Best one gets a carry or 2 and goes milk carton. 

The ol is consistently s#!t and at this point all you can do is laugh. Benhart coming in clutch with his classic false start penalty at the end just the proverbially cherry on to remind us all he still here.

i don’t know if we’ve  been committed to guys on the OL who are simply not good or we’ve committed to a OL coach who is simply not good in order to get our current qb, but I sincerely hope next year we see fresh faces both on the field and coaching the ol unit.

We looked a little more explosive, and Dylan had an impressive completion percentage but overall it was more of the same. Missed throws, a forced a INT. We gash teams for big runs and then decide to just forget we can run and throw ourselves to the sideline.

I did like that the TEs were more involved though. I have no idea why we aren't seeing more HH when he busted big runs.

Heinrich Haarberg should be used in a Taysom Hill role the last two games.  There's no reason for not throwing the kitchen sink at obtaining that 6th win.

Agree about HH.  We bring him in and then put DR out wide.....Like that will ever fool anyone.  Just plain stupid.  

I'd reevaluate these last 2 weeks and ANY player who could increase our chances for the elusive one win would play.  Burn the red shirt.  Rhule and this staff as is, are not going to develop you beyond where you're at....Now is the time to go all in....

Same.  I think someone posted we averaged 5 yards/pass yesterday.  Commit to the run and I feel comfortable that we could do just as well with HH in and have a better run threat.  I watch a lot of college football and we are in our own little bubble.  Kansas beating BYU last night.  EVERY team finds a way to rise to the competition, but NU.  When the lights are brightest and the noise the loudest, NU melts like an ice cube in the desert.....Some one had mentioned earlier that getting our 4-6 year guys out of the program would be a great thing.  All they know is losing.  They accept and more importantly expect it....

You don't watch Taysom Hill play if you think that's all he does.  You should watch the highlights of today's game against the Browns.  Run, Pass, and Catch and was the biggest reason the Saints won the game.

I know and I do.  He's my TE in fantasy.  Dude went off today   HH could be that guy.  No reason to have him come in as QB and split DR wide.  Move him around and use his athleticism.

I really hope some real changes happen this week. Like no more stupid throws to Fidone at or behind the line of scrimmage. Less of Dowdell. I really hope they aren’t trying to influence how Holgorsen does this. They need to let him do what he wants.

I actually think Dowdell was used more effectively this game, but he still did some Dowdell things. Seemed like we ran him up the middle like we should have all season, and he did well there. I have no idea how Emmett went off like he did but we only run him 10 times for 55 yards when we've been preaching about how important running is. That's just one of the dumbest things I've seen in a while. He was like a brand new player yesterday, and we wasted him.

Dowdell doing Dowdell things, like running directly at the safety on a break away?  I know he did that once previously and broke a kids arm, but one cut and he's in the endzone on both of those because neither Safety wanted any of that.  Drives me nuts, he has vision apparently but his vision is to go destroy the last defender and not score a TD.

The long run where he could have broke to the sideline for a longer gain or maybe even an house call, instead he cut back up the middle where there was a second defender? Lol it’s like there’s blinders in his mask.

Was also thinking of the play where he tried to cut in the backfield and got swallowed up for a loss. If he would have just stuck his head down it would have been a 1 yard gain.
