Dana Holgorsen Hired as Offensive Coordinator

rhule and the athleric director need to have a come to jesus moment about what rhule wants this team to be moving forward.
How bout a competent special teams unit. We should’ve been up 13-0 with the ball back and instead it’s a 10-3 then a 10-10 game.  We nearly tripled iowas offensive production.

we lost, once again, due to special teams being a complete failure and our transfer selections being a f’n dud.

to expect Dana to turn s#!t water into wine in 3 weeks, end of season, and undo all the incompetence satt inflicted schematically and personnel wise is simply unrealistic

Gotta sign him long term. I can’t wait to see what he implements moving forward. He got Cute a few times and it backfired, but I’m sure he has his own gimmick plays. The HH one was good, but wrong spot to call it imo. The straight run was still working then. The Nelson end around failed because of a couple of whiffs on blocks

Just an aside:  We were noticing that Dana was saying his signals/plays openly, very openly, rather than covering his mouth and mic as nearly all signal callers/OCs/HCs seem to do.  It is not just about wind into the mic, of course.

Plus, dropped passes & missed blocking long assignments.

You mean for one week?  The other two weeks we scored the second and third fewest points we scored all year.
Ok, I thought the offense play calling looked better.  Receivers were open and were missed or dropped balls.  (And USC wasn’t the third fewest points, but he’s running somebody else’s offense and looks more competent than the previous guy.)

I'm still out of "reactions", but I'd like to give you a "tbh", "+1", and a "trophy".  Wisky was a great game.  I think I got sucked into what could be and then reality kicked in last night.  A lot of the same issues.  Poor execution, questionable calls, missed assignments etc....If there is going to be changes, I'd look at EVERYONE who might be interested.  Again, I don't think this staff as is, will lead us into the future of success.

The defense scored 7 against USC and gifted the offense another three without needing a first down.

This has been the case all year.

It doesn't matter how good of plays you call if your QB makes it tougher on everyone.  For whatever reason they got him to do that against Wisconsin.  I thought perhaps DH was just an a$$ about it and told him to throw the easy ones.  But we were back to the same stuff last night.

And this comment from Sam was before it really got ugly in the second half.

Obviously it’s just my opinion, but the offense is clearly better.  The game is light years ahead of where it was.

There was some dropped passes, but I’m going to say something controversial…..I have concerns about the QB play.   I also don’t think he’s going to get better.

I believe this to be true. What bothers me is it’s like Dylan is off limits to criticize or call out by the staff. It seems like in press conferences it’s all sunshine and rainbows by the coaches. Dylan is great, he is so smart, everyone needs to work hard like him bla bla bla. Why so much praise but no real talk. You know Steve spurrier or Saban or whoever would call it like it is. QB play wasn’t good enough

I agree QB concerns me. I’m not ready to say he won’t get better but I don’t want no damn freshman excuses. I don’t care if you are 18 or 22. If you win the starting job you are expected to play at a standard befitting a P2 starter. No more excuses and bulls#!t. Yeah he is 18, who cares if he is a starter he plays to the standard not lower our standard cause a freshman won the job. He is a millionaire starting QB. Perform

Our fanbase can be so fatalistic.  Go outside and touch some grass.

He was a true freshman QB.  He was a middle of the pack QB in the B1G this year.  There is no reason to believe that he will not be a better QB next year (especially with Dana at the helm compared to Satt).  Depending on who declares for the draft, he might be the top returning QB in the B1G next year (non-portal additions).
