Dana Holgorsen Hired as Offensive Coordinator

That said, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to scoop a few players like that up. Where I think we should really live in the transfer portal though is in FCS all-American players as well as G5 all-conference players who are looking to improve their draft stock playing at a higher level. NDSU and South Dakota St have at least 2-4 players each year who could seriously raise our floor and one year rentals don’t scare off prep recruits. I think we missed Omar Brown defensively.
There are definitely lots of NFL players in this group who NU should be targeting for NIL transfer players that would fill immediate needs for starting positions.   I would rather take my chances and have this type of player than the kid sitting the bench for two years at a P4 program who wants to transfer and start immediately.

I like the play they do when he scored his TD.  Has had a long gainer before that as well just diidnt get in the endzone that game.  Think Rahmir had a nice one too.

It's frankly annoying because I thought he looked like the best RB last year too and I've been annoyed by Dowdell taking carries that should have been EJ's all year. Holgorsen saw what most of us saw.

Another thing that irritated me was when EJ did all the work to get to the redzone and they just gave it to Dowdell like EJ couldnt score from 2yards out.  Reward the guy every once in a while

I think Holgorsen and Eckler are going to be the key to turning this thing around.   I also love that Rhule uses the word "Courage".  Good managers, are there are not a ton in my experience, have courage.

I may be in the minority, but I'm not terribly concerned about Tony White leaving.  I think we may end up better there as well.

I'm not sure I'd go this far, but there is something to be said for having your coordinators in alignment with what the HC wants and it sounds like that was trending the wrong direction with White. We blew more coverages last year than we should have with the experience we had in the secondary, hopefully Butler can get that sorted out with another year and complete control. I'm expecting a similarly solid level of defense overall, but a slight regression seems more likely than improvement.

It's less about Tony White and more about who isn't there on the defensive line anymore.  The defense is taking a step back, but the other two units should be better and overall I expect a better team.  8 wins is the bar this year, 9 shows real improvement.

Regardless of how strong you think our NIL is, one thing that’s been made very clear is that we fulfill our NIL promises. Casey Thompson said as much on the record. That’s a tremendous recruiting strength but it also requires a really thorough vetting process because it means former blue-chip recruits who never lived up to their potential could see us as one final paycheck.

I agree with this about our neighbors to the north, USD, SDSU, NDSU, UND, maybe even Montana and Montana State.  Probably should look at Iowa Western as well from time-to-time.  When players aren't seeing the field in Lincoln it would be nice for Brookings, Vermillion, Grand Forks, Fargo and possibly Bozeman and  Missoula get recommendations as well.  I think it could be a benefit to Nebraska to build those relationships.  More often than not, the best FCS football is played there as well as player development to get to those heights.
