“I hung out with the coaches and learned some new moves, it was really cool.”
The USC coaches have picked up there interest in Joe recently.
“They want me a lot. They showed today that they really want me to be a part of the program.”
That’s because Joe impressed them with his skills and athleticism.
“They said that they hadn’t seen my take off before and that I was one of the best in the group. They said I was a lot more athletic than a lot of guys that where out there.”
When it comes to his game, Joe’s a perfectionist. This becomes obvious when he talks about how he felt about his performance.
“I did alright. I messed up a little bit but they said I did very well.”
Despite a great visit to USC, Joe is far from being done with the process.
“I have a top ten. UCLA, USC, Tennessee, Texas A&M, ASU, Alabama, Michigan, Washington, and Nebraska. They aren’t in a particular order.”
All of his top schools have targeted multiple prospects in the Inland Empire. Joe’s relationship with a few of those prospects might influence his decision.
“My relationship with all of them is cool. Tahaan and I have been talking and hanging out for awhile. I think I want to go to school with Tahaan, but it’s not the only factor.”
He’ll have plenty of time to consider all of those factors before he announces at the U.S Army All American Bowl. Then again, he could commit before that.
"If I get a strong feeling that a certain school is where I should be," I might commit before the Army game," said Mathis.
