DE Kevin Young

Murillo has played much better this year than last year. If you don't hear a guy mentioned it means he's not giving up many big plays, but it also means he's not making any big plays either. Lock down corners tend to get mentioned a lot for their pass break ups, interceptions, great coverage, and outstanding run support.

6 Murillo, A. 12-11 29 9 38 2-1 . 1-57 9 1 1-11 0 0 0

These are solid stats (actually better than I thought they would be before I looked them up) but far from lock down corner stats. I expect better from you Willie, you usually seem to be on the money.
Since when do stats tell how good a CB is?

You do realize what Murillo did to a guy like Crabtree, correct? Two of the only big plays Crabtree got was from a blown coverage by Asante and a screen play.

That will never show up in a stat line.

Murillo has did things like that all year. If you hold a WR to limited catches, how is that going to show up on a tackle sheet stat line?

Look at guys like Deion Sanders. A lockdown corner who rarely got picked on and it did not allow his stat sheet to fill up.

Sanders had only 4 NFL seasons where he had 40+ tackles and he had 8 NFL seasons where he had 3 or less INTs.

If a CB under performs, you will see his name called out quite a bit during a game. You will see his man beating him quite often and you will see it filling up your TV screen. That has not been the case with Murillo at all this year. Thus why I said when you do not see or hear of a DB during a game, you actually know they are playing a damm good game.

Well, you called him a lockdown corner. Those aren't lock down corner numbers. While stats don't tell the whole story they do tell some of the story. You also said that when you don't hear about a guy it means he's having a good year. I disagree. Murillo has been much improved but is far from a lockdown corner. You are inflating his ability. Just keeping it real.

father, if you look at defensive stats to tell you who a lockdown corner is, then you are looking at how to judge CBs in a completely bad way.

And if you don't hear a CBs name called in a game, that means he is not getting thrown at. Why would the CB not be getting thrown at? Maybe because he is covering his opponent well? Compare that to a guy like Anthony West or Eric Hagg who routinely get beat and get TV time way too much for the wrong reasons.

Look over my posting record. I'll call a spade a spade when I see it. I even have called out 'The Godfather' himself on occasion when that is blasphemous in Nebraska football. I won't blow smoke about any player just to blow smoke.

And yes, Kevin Young is POSSIBLY visiting Kansas this weekend. Not set in stone yet but that is the plan as of right now.

Regardless, Murillo still blew coverage. I watched the game, I saw the play.

Then you don't understand defensive schemes.
Yeah, I dont understand defensive schemes. But I do understand what I see when watching football games. Murillo was covering Crabtree during that play, then for whatever reason stopped covering, next thing you know Harrell throws to Crabtree, touchdown...

Think he ONLY gained about 45 yds, didn't score. :moreinteresting

What is Cover 2?

The base Cover 2 is a zone defense where every defender is responsible for an area of the field and not a specific man. The field is divided into five underneath zones and two deep zones. The two corners and three linebackers play the underneath fifths, and the two safeties play the deep halves. In the diagram below you can see the field divided into underneath fifths and deep halves.

Because it is a zone coverage. Murillo passed Crabtree off to Asante once he got to deep, thus he became Asante's responsibility. Did you expect Murillo to just completely blow his assignment to run with Crabtree? Then you would be harping that he blew his underneath coverage which was his true responsibility in the cover 2.

Young is visiting Kansas again? For real?
Steve Ryan was on 590 after 5 pm today and he said that Young is visiting KU on an official recruiting visit this weekend. Ryan thinks maybe Young was 'caught up in the moment' of the atmosphere at the CU game, or maybe the kid just really doesn't know what he wants and simply can't say no. Steve R honestly has no idea where this kid will end up, I want him at UNL, because he really studded out at Summer Camp.

Ryan also said that Husker coaches are going strong after another KU commit, CB Prinz Cande from Trinity High in Euless, TX (yeah that same HS were we have two commits). Ryan said that Cande is "for now" solid for KU, but to Ryan, the term 'for now' raises red flags. Stay Tuned.

Why these guys would want to go to KU over NU is a mystery to me. Well, I could see how Young could have some allegiance there, but as an overall fb experience, doesn't NU pretty much blow KU outta the water?

Plus, we are going to be a better team.

Ryan better be careful because Young may not even take that visit. Is not set in stone yet.

Oh, are we finally back on the topic of kevin Young after you guys derailed the thread with your childish arguing. The rest of us interested in recruiting thank you.
