Dead Man, Dead Dog

The man and dog were hunting something when the man decided to walk across the creek downstream from the dam and the dog followed. The floodgates opened and the man and dog were swept downstream with the initial surge of water. The dead pair washed up into a field.

Question for clarification. You have said that the man and the dog were hunting, and you also said that the man was fishing.

So...by "hunting" do you mean "fishing", or were they doing both?

And, is this summary correct?

A man and his dog were found dead in a field. The man was wearing wading boots. No one else was around. They were near a body of water, and the man was fishing. The man did something stupid, then the dog did something stupid, and both died. There was some kind of fire, kinda. The cause of death was related to the reason the man was wearing the wading boots – they were hunting while walking through water – but neither was shot. The man and the dog died at the same time.

YES, all true, one clarification, the boots did not cause his death, they were keeping his feet dry...

How about this?

The man was fishing, and he caught a big fish. His pole couldnt handle it so he jumped in after it. Then his dog, seeing the man in trouble after be jumped into a moving current, also jumps. They are both carried away and eventually washed up in a field.

I believe that gave it away.

The man was throwing dynamite into a pond the dog retrieved the thrown stick to boths detriment. BIG BANG, BADABING, BADABOOM. DEAD

plus probably a little smokin along with the boom.

Not that anyone should condone the use of explosives in fishing or hunting of legal game in the US of A :)

now jug fishing is a horse of another color.

Okay, I guess it was a good hint after all.

CONGRATULATIONS Rawhide!

A man and his dog were found dead in the middle of a field. The man was wearing wading boots. No one else was around. How had they died?

The field was next to a lake. The man had been poaching fish by dynamiting them. He threw a stick of dynamite into the lake. Unfortunately, the dog chased the stick, retrieved it and carried it to the man, who had run away across the field - but to no avail.
