Just curious where these charts came from?

If they are true, then penciling these guys in as starters or no 2's without them even being on campus is not a good thing.

I heard through a "reliable source" that the reason Bowman chose NU over Iowa is that the staff told him that he would be the starter, hands down.

What ever happened to earning your PT?

Not sure where the chart came from, but I bet it is written in pencil. One thing I saw last year was that Callahan doesn't seem to stick to a depth chart. Or at least he didn't have much use for it lest year when you look at who played when. Then again, I bet keeping a depth chart up to date was least of his worries then. ;)

Don't coaches usually outline a depth chart for their use during spring practice anyway? I never heard of previous staffs doing that, but then again, there has never been this much under such a large microscope before.

At some positions I think some kids, like Bowman, are going to be shoe in's because of graduation and players leaving early for the NFL. They are hard to ignore when you look at some of their film and stats. Especially in the DB spots. Spots where we are thin right now.

I have no problem with that, but when you are the new guy on the totem pole, you start from the bottom. If you are head and shoulders above everyone else, it will show quickly, and you will earn your time at that point. If Bowman is that good, it will show after his 3rd practice, and he will get what he deserves. :thumbs

To pencil guys in without having them in your system for one practice, or seeing how they react to better competition is irresponsible at best.

Remember, guys like Farley, Moss, and Toby Wright had to earn their PT out of JC, they werent given it on a silver platter.

HAHAHAHA
Does the name Sean Callahan ring a bell, you know from Huskers Illustrated?

Not exactly the "reliable sources" that most people have, you know--that friend, who has a cousin, whos girlfriend, went to school with the guy who sits next to the third string water boy in biology.

You know, your type of reliable source.

Why come out with a prespring? How can you even do that? How can octavian be #1 when the coaches haven't even seen him play yet on the field. How can taylor be two? Adams, davis, ganz, goodman might aswell pack their bags if they are behind before they even start.

Not really. It's not like the coaches have never ever seen any of these kids play. Any football coach who has coached at any level for more than five years should be able to see a good player pretty quickly. Whether it be in film or in person.

With that in mind is it really that unreasonable for a coach to have some kind of projection as to where these kids will end up?

Example: Does anyone really think Ganz or Goodman are going to come out and blow away all the other QB's ?

Personally, I wouldn't even pay much attention to depth charts until after spring...

We've got a sweet pair of bookends here. There almost as big as the DT's. They have to reak havoc this year.
Whoa, if they were so sweet, where were they last year. Were they even on the field. So what they are big, we need a fast pass rush that was not there last year. Time will tell but I think that was our biggest problem on defense last year. No pass rush.
