Defensive Tackle Looking Like A Strength

Sounds like since Williams is sitting out Foster is splitting 2nd team reps beside Maurice with Logan Rath. They think he can help this year.
How bad was Aaron Curry practicing that a True Freshman OL is basically practicing as the #3-#5 DT after 1 day and a Junior former starter was only 5th?

There's really only 4 or so legit options. Foster is 5th by default, there just really isn't anyone else. I think there is a clear 1-2, and 3-4 are way ahead of 5-xyz. Curry was in that 3-4 group before. He wasn't ahead nor behind any of them, but he wasn't going to end up 1-2 without an injury.

Yes I know this. My comments were meant as a joke. Obviously I failed.

With Gregory getting all the attention he is our DT's should be freed up too. It's hard to get going if A and B gaps are canceled out..

Last year, teams had to double-team VV. If they didn't, he was seven yards deep in the backfield. It really sounds like Collins is getting to that point as well. And good luck trying to let someone try to block Gregory by themselves.

I really don't know where opponents are going to come up with enough blockers.

Ha ha I like that lol. I have been really impressed on how well the "Whole Team" seems to get along this year. It just didn't seem this way in past years.

Interesting note from Big Red WrapUp last night:

Blake Lawrence - who knows a little bit about Pelini's defense - said that the Huskers used a lot more "heavy" technique with VV last year. "Heavy" is when the DT lines up on the outside shoulder of the guard (3 technique, B gap) and crashes the guard down to clog the A gap effectively controlling two gaps. Blake said they haven't run much of that since Suh left, likely because no one else has been good/strong enough to do that consistently. Would be a big plus if VV can continue to do some of this and possibly Collins as well.

Also may shed some light on some of the discussion about whether the Huskers run a two-gap scheme. It would seem to be that we didn't run much of it from 2010-2012 but perhaps ran a little more of it last year.

I thought 2-gap was when your 2 DT's stood upright and slapped hands with the 3 OL in front of them while the DE's stood off to the left and right?

The few years after Suh was gone, you were probably right

This sounds an awful lot like slap nuts......Am I right?

After re-watching the game....IMO if we stay healthy with our top 4, Logan Rath can be the 5th and RS Foster. Rath did some good things in the time he was in the game.
