Defensive Weakness

Does anyone besides me think that the weak link in our defense against MU's passing will be our defensive backfield. I'm really concerned about the ability of Green and Grixby. OU burned them frequently on those out routes against the sideline. Also, our safeties will have a big load of having to come up on the rush defense. Besides Bullocks, who can play back there at a high level? Is Tiedke able to handle the position?

If Hart comes out of the backfield for a reception, our linebackers will be dealing with a lot of speed. That means the our backfield, again, is on the spot! A strong pass rush would normally reduce their ability to throw effectively, but their offensive line is excellent. That means to me that we either add a safety blitz or , in obvious situations, use nickle and dime packages.

I don't think Green will be in there a whole lot, except in Nickel situations. I would think from what we have seen the last few games that Bowman and Grixby will start. I am much more concerned with the LB issue than the DB's. I think who we have in there right now as starters are pretty decent (McKeon is a stud) but our depth has really taken a hit and it might show if the game is tight into the 4th quarter.

I agree. Bowman has looked pretty good the last couple games IMO. Grixby is small but he's a warrior and i'm not sure how big they're recievers are. I'm really concerned about them running the ball. As everyone knows they're o-line is really good compared to what we've seen.

I don't know if their line is all that good. The last I heard, was that they lost a couple of starters with injuries. However, they may be back, Im not for sure.

Linebackers and Tidtke will be the key. If our backers dont over pursue and Tiedtke actually makes some tackles when he is in position to do so, we will be ok.
