Dejon Gomes for play of the game!

Dejon Gomes had a great game and I honestly can not say I remeber seing him play much before. Give him a game ball!

Was just gonna post something about him! Where the heck has this guy been? Was he only used for dime package? Whatver, that was the best performance I've seen from a NU DB in a while.

 
Front to back the defense was stellar. What woes they had can pretty much be lumped on the offense which did nothing to give them field position for three quarters.

 
Definitely impressed by Dejon Gomes tonight, glad Bo recruited him. Also Amukamura, Dennard & Hagg all played really well. Suddenly our secondary is looking like its got some upside.

Remember when we were hating on Callahan for his JUCO recruits?

Turns out they aren't always so bad after all. Let's hope Bo's guys will follow in the footsteps of Mo and Bowman/Murillo.

Except for the trip and fall that resulted in the long pass play and eventually a TD right before halftime!! I thought overall Amukamara played well though!!

As for Gomes, that dude was was everywhere!! It looked like they had him in some type of a rover/hybrid position. Many times he was lined up as a LB and would break off into coverage, but he also had a few great tackles on running plays. He was flying to the ball and a few times I thought I was witnessing the reincarnation of Terrell Farley. Anybody else??

It was great to see guys flying to the ball!! Reminded me of the Blackshirts!!

For playing against a pass heavy offense as well as a hurry up offense I thought that this was the best our DB's have played in YEARS against a good opponent. Dejon Gomes was a stud yesterday and I'm liking who we have out there for our DB's.

Zac is BC though. I know Dejon is Bo's group. Anyway, the point is JUCOs can be a healthy and necessary part of recruiting.
