Delaney: Omaha Hungry to Host B1G Basketball Tourney

Delany told the Tribune that if the tournament does not go to the Big Apple, strong possibilities to host include Omaha, Minneapolis and Detroit.


“I’m thinking that if it’s not New York, we’ll put it up (for bid) and see who’s really interested,” he said. “Omaha is hungry.”

I think the B1G should do this, obviously being a homer. It would be a really be our region's chance to show that we can host an event with the best of them. If we can handle the CWS, Olympic Swimming Trials and NCAA tournaments we can host a great Conference Tournament.

I say rotate it to some expansion cities (Omaha, NY, Baltimore/DC) to generate more B1G interest in these new markets.

I agree with Creed. It seems like Delany is always looking for a permanent home for the tournaments. Let some of the states/cities that are part of the B1G showcase their abilities to host events and spread the tourism dollars around a bit.
