Are animals killed there? Are they crowded into small spaces? They are being killed because we "want" meat not need meat

We don't need to kill animals to survive. Fruits, Veggies, whole grains, nuts etc and exercise will beat a burger and fried chicken every time. Our society in general needs to get back to basics. Fruits and more so veggies should outnumber meat in a persons diet by quite a bit. Heck they should outnumber grains as well.

Sounds like you're the one that needs to get back to basics. Animals kill and eat other animals. It happened before humans existed, it happened before society existed, happened before slaughterhouses existed, and if by some chance the world turns out that way, it will continue to happen long after we're gone. Those animals don't need to kill and eat other animals either, but it's nature, and natural.

What about a slaughterhouse is natural? Animals are lined up killed (hopefully on the first try) then processed. How is that anything like a lion chasing down a water buffalo? If you live on a farm and kill a chicken to feed your family that is ok. You most likely didn't hang it by its feet and run it through water with an electric current.

If you were to use all the fields etc that are used to feed livestock and used it for crops that people could eat you would have a heck of a lot more food and also a lot less manure.

I have worked in the livestock industry for years. Right now I'm surrounded by cattle with a feed lot right down the road.

I have no problem if someone decides to not eat meat. But the propaganda these groups put out is pathetic.

You're making two separate arguments. The first is that the specific way in which we kill animals is inhumane, the second is that we shouldn't be killing animals in the first place.

I'm only disagreeing and discrediting the second argument.

However I would guess the majority of us on here are not in such terrible circumstances that we are unable to eat other food sources.

You realize there is already a surplus of food in this country and basically around the world right? It's the distribution and economics of it that's the problem. And the manure issue isn't going to be a big issue that much longer with the way they collect the run off and in some instances use it for methane.

Hoping that was sarcasm. Cattle, hogs and chicken would not reproduce in such crazy numbers if it wasn't for man. You eat less or no meat they don't need to breed as many cattle which in turn makes less poop

Have you heard of feral pigs before? They're a huge problem! And they reproduced on their own. All the boar in this country came from domesticated pigs.

I'm not sure what pot smoker told you that, but you should probably have an idea of what you are talking about before you make any argument.

And you say that the way animals kill and eat other animals is okay when they chase them down and start eating them before they are dead, but when humans run them through a processing plant, kill them in the most humane way possible, and cut the carcasses into marketable cuts AFTER THEY ARE DEAD AND CAN NO LONGER FEEL PAIN, then that is supposedly not okay?.....

Now, am I saying that places that torture animals in an inhumane way don't exist? Absolutely not. I've never seen any first-hand but I'm sure they exist. But to say that is the norm is ignorant and uppity.
