Derron Williams to the Nets

I have to respectfully disagree. Tyson Chandler is having a pretty good season. And nobody on the Lakers can guard Dirk

P.S. it won't be a 7 game series. 5 or 6 at the most. Id say Dallas 4-2, but I can see Dallas 4-1. Dallas wins both at home, splits on road and wins game 5 at home.
Nobody on the Lakers has to care about Dirk. Let him score 50. Shutdown the other 4 guys, and Dirk can be Jesus Christ and a f*cking death ray, and it won't matter. Dirk is one guy, you don't worry about him.

The Lakers could slow it down, play half court, and just pound them to death down low.
They can't stop Dirk, Kidd, Terry and now Peja too. I trust Kidd guarding Kobe. And Chandler guarding Bynum. Dirk just has to slow down Gasol bc there is no way Gasol can keep Dirk contained on defense. Besides, Dallas already beat Lakers this season. And Dallas would be in first place if Dirk wasn't hurt for like 10 games earlier this season.

Ok, first of all Kidd guarding Kobe, that is a joke unless Dallas wants Kobe to set a new single game playoff record for most points. Peja was not even a problem when he was actually good when he played with the Kings. Jason Terry is a catch and shoot player, as long as someone always stays on him, he won't be a problem. Chandler will limit Bynum a little bit, but they can move Gasol to center and Odom to power forward to solve that problem. Plus Odom would do a better job on Dirk too because he is quicker than Gasol and more athletic so he can limit Dirk better than Gasol. Don't forget it is the playoffs. Kobe has more rings than the entire Maverick franchise.

Considering Dallas has one of the best (Im pretty sure #1 defense in the NBA, but Im too lazy to check for sure) defenses in the league, if they can hold the Lakers to 90 points or less, no way Dallas loses a game in that series. Especially the way the Lakers play D. Its a joke. And this is only relevant if the Lakers even make it far enough to play Dallas in the Western Conference Finals. Bc Dallas will overtake SA before the season is over and Lakers will stay at 3rd in WC.

there is another school of thought...

that scottie pippen would easily be todays carmelo or what have you. if you really think about it, it falls into the argument of the whole team ball concept versus the star collection that is going on now, and really, theyre not much different.

scottie pippen was no joke, just as on the other hand, jordan won with him and the worm once he came in. things may not be so dramatically different as people are making them out to be. Honestly, take a look at KG's stats this year, or chris bosh's...not so different than what scottie and the worm were throwing up. people are falling into media hype over this "stars going where they want" deal.

it may be partially true, but in the end, its the new age media making out these random guys to be something more than what they would have been portrayed as 20 years ago, and the fact they are making bank off of it. carmelo anthony could have never pulled this off in the jordan age.

think about it...when jordans shoes were selling, who elses were??? no ones...now, marketing has found a way to make more men stars, and it eats at our hearts and pocketbooks.

who people define as stars these days is much broader than what it was even 15 years ago, thanks to social media. and a discount should be put just as high on it.

magic johnson and larry bird, anyone? thats what i recall from the eighties. and thats it.

why should todays stars be treated like they are doing something bad joining teams with other big names, when all that is really behind it is more and better marketing?

Dallas won't win the NBA Championship. Remember 2006? Dallas basically choked away the Finals and Wade said as much after the Finals. The Lakers don't have much to worry. When playoff time comes they will step up. They have Kobe and the best coach in the NBA.

2006? Are you serious? The 2006 team has nothing to do with the 2011 team. They have better talent on this team and Dirk has the highest shooting percentage hes had his entire career. Don't give me 2006 as a reason they won't win it this year. That's like saying Nebraska will win the MNC this year bc we won it in 1997.

Dallas was up 2-0 on Miami and by 13 pts in the 4th quarter in game 3 less than 6 minutes to go. Leads matter more in the Finals. Better team? Dallas went 60-22 that year and right now on pace for that but not much better.

I said they have better talent. And I know, I watched the finals that year, but still, that has nothing to do with this year. Two diff. teams. This year has more veteran leadership. Jason Kidd, Dirk, Marion, Terry, and now Stojakovich. And some young and upcoming talent. JJ Barea and Tyson Chandler. Not too mention a diff. coach from 2006. And the 2nd best defense in the WC behind New Orleans.

Thought Id resurect this thread due to the playoff discussions we had here about Dallas and Los Angeles. Just thought I'd say the last thing the Lakers hear before they get on the plane to go to Dallas...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! :LOLtartar
