A few years back - can't recall whether it was when Bo was there - LSU used martial arts as part of their summer conditioning program. Mental discipline, flexibility, building up core muscles groups (abs, back, etc.), quickness - a good workout, I would think.

 
That was cool...kind of wonder sometimes where these guys end up. It is nice to see it when they do something productive for the community.

Sounds like it would be very beneficial to a football team.

 
My offensive line coach in college had us do martial arts to help with our core strength and balance. It was pretty funny to have the OL kicking around and doing other skills. It did help with our blocking when we got the pads on.
