gotta love the intensity..lol...they showed a replay of pelini screaming into the headset..the guy had spits flying everywhere and i thought his eyes was gonna pop out...lol....that intensity!!!

 
I thought it was embarrassing. I love what Bo is doing for the program, but he is rediculous with the f-bombs on national TV. Last game against Baylor he pulled Wortman off the field and not only could you see him mouth the words F-ing moron, you could HEAR him. Nice. Get a filter Bo, when the word is overused that much it loses it's impact. The way he treated the media was inappropriate too. They aren't his players, they are professtionals doing their job, just as he is. He'll be on You Tube next and it won't be funny.

I understand that people are watching, but the producers know what they are cutting to when you see a shot of Bo on the sidelines.....they cut to him because they want the viewer to see it....Bo doesn't just become a raving lunatic when the cameras are on him.....

As for the cursing....yeah that is just part of getting your point across I guess....

But it's just a fact...if the people on ESPN, ABC, Versus, and FSN didn't want us seeing Bo going nuts on the sideline...they would show it so much....

I doubt Osborne is impressed either. Not sure TO cares about what the networks want. As Athletic Director I gotta believe he's still trying to "sell a program" to potential donors and recruits. If I'm a parent and I see that lack of self control... I wouldn't be so sure NU is the best place for my child.

How did he treat the media? Tell me one coach in the game of football that doesn't throw down the F bomb every now and then? Also what do you expect Bo to do when players make a mistake? Tell them to take a seat and Bo will make tea and they will then discuss nicely what went wrong?

If your child is planning on playing D1-A football, this is probably not an issue.

Unless he curses at you in your living room on a recruiting trip, the cursing should not be an issue...... I think that playing for Pelini would be a great opportunity for any kid looking to play football.

 
Just watching the first two series unfold he was calm. I was thinking .. tick.. tick.. tick..

Wow... okay, where to begin with how wrong this post is.

First, they are NOT professionals... they are amateur athletes and if you have attended school at UNL you know you see them in class, around campus, living away from their families, their hometown friends... and not profiting one bit from it. So don't call them out as "professionals". Pelini is the only one on the hook for this and he knows it and is stepping up.

Tim Griffin, from the Big 12 Blog at ESPN, posted something very similar and I sent him this response...

"Tim, you really seem to have it out for Bo Pelini with some of your commentary... what gives? I do not believe his decision to keep his players from the media was related to "punishing them", nor do I think (as you state) that a 'better punishment' would be to have them go before the media and explain their actions... I don't know about you and how your job works but the team that I manage at work, I take full responsibility for them, apologize when WE make mistakes, and I NEVER throw any of them under the bus, because as a leader you just don't do that. Asking Pelini to parade his defeated and deflated team out in front of the media after a performance like that is actually like asking a VP to go into a big board meeting and, rather than explain to the board himself his division's sour performance, parade each one of his employees before the board in an effort to show how little was actually the VP's fault and how much it was his employees.

Emotionally-charged, wrong decision? No...

Your attack on him for making a management decision and ensuring his team is not demoralized further... WAY WRONG.

He's looking out for his boys and he's doing it in the way any leader would. If Bob Stoops had been on the other end last night, do you think he would have said "Hey, it's not me... ask my players why they screwed up so bad!" Come on, Tim..."

In addition, it's not embarrassing that he is trying to rally his players, especially when some of them don't come close to matching-up, athletically, with Oklahoma's starters. (The same goes for Baylor... did you see their speed in the open field?)

I agree you need to hold in some of the F-bombs when the cameras are all on you and maybe Bo got to feeling a little loose with the curses when he was just D-Coordinator and Les Miles had to take all the camera time... but the bottom line is, I would love for my son to go to a school where he can be pushed to be the best he can be and a coach who won't let him quit... Bo is not abusing his players, he is driving them to succeed and sometimes they don't give the effort or make the plays and Bo corrects that.

Wow dude or lady not sure with your name.. Go back to watching the disney channel if you cant take a few Fbombs.. Those kids are not a bunch of pansies out there.. Chances are most of them have heard alot worse from there father when playing high school football... And if you didnt watch the game they just got their a$$'s handed to them and I am pretty sure if you were watching the game YOU dropped a few F-BOMBS to..

It wont be a prob... When Pelini come here to Texas to recruit my 2 boys 12 years from now if he doesnt tell me he is going to rip their a$$'s for messing up I might rip his...

I guess no one wanted their kids going to N. Dame when they were a power house and the lil old guy Lou was rippin kids rears. Didnt hurt any of the kids he put into the NFL..

I'll agree with you that keeping them from the press was done to "protect" them rather than punish them, but I still think it was an emotionally-charged and bad decision.

Are their egos so fragile that they can't face the media? It's part of building a team with high character. Do the players owe the media anything? No. Are amateur athletes obliged to answer to fans? No. Does Bo have every right to shelter his players from the media? Yes. My point is simply that they're better off as a team if they're made to answer for shortcomings as well as successes.

totally agreed...guys talk sh#t on the field all the time....if they can't handle a coach yelling at them then they don't need to be on the field

 
Last time I checked, a fellow by the name of Bob Devaney used to be the HC around here and I'm pretty sure that he dropped QUITE a few f-bombs. Tom Osborne hired Bo because he reminded him ALOT of Devaney. If Bo can get half the results of Devaney, I can handle him dropping an F-bomb or 10. As a former football player, I can tell you I responded much better when a coach cussed at me vs coddling me. That said, there is a time to yell and rant and a time not to, and Bo DIDN'T yell at the players at halftime according to the sideline reporter last nite from ESPN. I think he has a great mixture of leadership and agree with an earlier post. I would be proud to send my son to play for this man.
