Jerry Moore, Appalachian State's head coach, was the receivers coach at Nebraska from 73-78. In 1978 he became the Offensive Coordinator at Nebraska. He was Osbornes right hand man until he left to be a head coach in 1979.

 
Interesting thought, though I agree he is too old to be the head guy. Hiring a D1-AA guy certainly worked for Ohio State, but Tressel is relatively younger than Moore. Still, I had no idea that he was a Husker assistant at one time.

 
I have one of the old "Cornhusker Football" shows on DVD.

Jerry was a coach-host with Don Gill.

His Texas accent was great!

Paraphrasing, he mentioned, 'you know you're from Texas when you can make "red" a two-syllable word'. :)
