Divisional Playoff Matchup Picks

Heisman Trophy Winner
I'll start with the teams I love and hate respectively..

Yankee's - Twins: Game 1 is going to pretty much tell you how this series is gonna go IMO. If the Twins play scrappy, mistake free baseball, then it could go all 5 games. Their momentum could be a danger to my Bombers. But, with that being said, the Yank's bats wake up early, and chase Duensing, then it could very well be 3 and out for the Twinkies.

Yankee's in 4

Angel's - Sox: This might be the toughest one for me to pick. The Halo's are as fundamentally strong as any team in the majors, and this year, they're hitting. For Boston to have a chance Beckett, Lester, and Dice-K are going to have to pitch, and VERY well, if I see Boston advancing to the next round.

As much as it pains me, Angel's in 5

Rockies - Phillies: This one could get really ugly for the Rockies, if Lee, Hamels and even Pedro pitch well. The Rockies only real shot, is if they can get to the Phil's bullpen. If that happens, then the Rock's could come up with some late game heroics at the expense of Mr. Lidge or Mr. Madson

Phil's in 4

Dodgers - Cards: This could be an incredible series, maybe the best of the bunch, but it comes down to one thing. The Cards have the pitching, and as of late, the Dodgers starters have been shakey. But if Billingsley and Kershaw step up, then this could be a barn burner.

Go ahead, and start yellin at me... Dodgers in 5

Yanks/Twins- Yankees have won all 7 games vs. Minnesota this year and have had a little more rest. That being said, the Twins will stretch this series to 5 but come up short.......Yankees in 5

Angels/Sox- This is going to be a good series and I'm just going on gut instincts here, but the Halos get the monkey off their back and finally beat the Sox in a playoff series..........Angels in 4

Dodgers/Cardinals- Someone needs to wake the Dodgers up tell them its time to play baseball. They essentailly slept through the last 3 weeks of the season and almost lost the division. This could be the best series out of the four with great pitching matchups each game. There will be no room for errors and the team with the least amount of mistakes will probably win the series.....Dodgers in 5

Rockies/Phillies- Rockies maybe the hottest team in the NL and it seems like the same type of team that rolled into the 07 playoffs. Unfortunatly they are not going to have their best pitcher in De La Rosa. The Phillies have too much offense and seasoned pitching to let the Rockies hang aroung though.....Phillies in 4

BTW, I wonder if we'll see this happen again if the trophy goes back to Philly....

Yankees vs. Twins - Yanks in 4. Twins don't have near enough starting pitching to stay with the Yanks. They might get game 3 in Minnesota, but Yanks close the door in Game 4.

Angels vs. Red Sox - Red Sox in 5. Red Sox always seem to have the Angels's number, I don't think this year is any different. Both teams are not their typical selves this season. Angels are winning more with Offense than in years past and Red Sox have pitching concerns and the lineup isn't as deep as it once was. Red Sox has a better bull pen this year and that gives them the edge.

Phillies vs. Rockies - Phillies in 4. I am torn on this one. The Phillies have holes no doubt about it, but I think the Rockies have more holes. I wouldn't be surprised to see this go 5 games, but in the end the lack of Left Handed Pitching on the Rockies hurts them as the heavy lefty lineup of the Phillies makes hay.

Dodgers vs. Cardinals - Cardinals in 4. Dodgers just don't seem to be playing good ball and I don't like their starting rotation. Cardinals can throw studs in games 1 and 2, this will be tough for the Dodgers to overcome.
