Do not watch if you have a soft stomach.

From my basic understanding, the concept of this blocking scheme is to simulate an inside zone read, hence the TE "pulling" down the LOS.  The goal is that the LB's will read the TE and get sucked up on the play fake.  It seems like a pretty complicated play design, but it's a good way to run play action.  Of course, that requires the linemen and TE to get blocks, and there are about 4 missed blocks on this one play.

I think it's an inside trap play; the TE traps on the DE, and the tackle releases to the LB.

Although, the OLB is left unblocked, so you could be right.

Like I said, I have a very basic understanding, so you are probably right.  I saw a tweet from Severe that #88 is supposed to kick out the DE.

He is; that's supposed to be the trap block. Jaimes should have simulated getting to the second level to sell the play fake.

Severe tweeted out another play that is basically the same play as above, but it's the run.  I am terrible at imbedding tweets or media.  It's blocked terribly (no surprise).

I thought tweets were supposed to auto-embed, but as the OP proves, I know nothing, Jon Snow.

Get used to it. The line hasn't been great this year, but it looked better when Decker was in. And who knows if the best players are even playing. Cav has no idea what he's doing. He's prob one of the worst coaches on this staff, and that's saying a lot, because there are a lot of bad ones to choose from.

It is an overly complicated try at deception that didn't work.  It was terribly executed, but it does't have to be that complicated all the time.
